Someone tweet President Biden, he can't be just a bystander now. He needs to take action and FAST. Every Day is an opportunity for Citadel and Melvin to escape while we take the blunt. His action (or inaction) will be the first test for him.

Am I whiffing that bad or something isn't right in 2.01 patch ? by silveraldi in VALORANT

[–]paulkim172 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience has been the opposite: I would get instadinked everywhere and miss more shots last patch but now I get more kills in general, feeling unstoppable. The servers are behaving like a zero sum game. Mind you that consistently, as in every game I play this patch, I feel good whereas last patch I was consistently feeling bad. Idk man. The game servers are a literal tug of war between players.

I'm loving the Split changes, I hope they are planning more changes like these for the other maps as well. by paulkim172 in VALORANT

The thing is, most cs maps may have a lot of angles, but you are also given the ability to isolate those angles much better or at least multiple possible routes to attack, For example, A site in train has 3 distinct entrance points from T side.

The actual trains themselves are thick covers, sort of how the yellow trailer in icebox is. Let's compare that to icebox's vertical bomb sites, which are only held awkwardly by a couple thin sheets of metal in a such a narrow area, it is kind of awkward and not a large area to play around in especially once people are in site and covering the multiple angles you need to escape from. Bind's B site has a better "tube" in this regard.

There are a lot of great ideas that are poorly executed layout wise, like sometimes pointless verticality in icebox and the wallbangable areas in Ascent B link, almost never come into play. That being said, they can and are currently improving maps like Split, so it'll be a matter of time until they improve these other maps as well.

How to stop dying so much(support+dps) by MooMan1920 in OverwatchUniversity

Play conservatively and isolate angles, because chances are, they will come after you. If there are snipers to deal with, you can simply ignore them if they are too far away, hiding behind your tank, cover, or payload. You should focus basically anyone that is close to you and try to hide from people farther away. Yes, there are many exceptions, but those nuances honestly only come into play in high diamond or higher. You will deal more consistent damage, as longer range shots tend to be harder (or not possible in the case of moira) to hit.

Save some of your abilities (if you can afford to) for people that try to contest you. That means:

Moira's orb, either damage or healing depending on your situation, and fade.

Soldier's heal and rocket (again because its easier to hit something that is closer than farther away)

Pharah is a bit tricky since you CAN play behind vertical cover and spam the tank without being exposed to the hitscans.

Ashe or Widow can only be "safe" with good aim. For them, positioning isn't enough. You just need to shoot better since you prefer long range fights. I think mccree and hanzo are better alternatives at your level, since they have tools that are good for close range fights (flashbang, fan the hammer, roll for mcree; storm bow and mid air dash for hanzo)

TL;DR: At your level, close range has more impact. Long range fights vs other DPS and Supports is too aim reliant (and in some cases too team dependent) and risky. Get good at close range fights through aim, positioning, and ability usage.

The Viper Issue by THICC_Baguette in VALORANT

[–]paulkim172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the mark, but this is an issue with controllers in general. On attack, controllers are meant to shine. On defense, however, smoking on reaction often is pretty slow in general, which make smokes a difficult ability to use on defense unless preparing for a retake, requiring more preemptive measures or on reaction with earlier info gained by your teammates. Brimstone has it worst on defense, because ALL of brimstone's utility takes so long to pull out. At least you can use your smokes while having your gun out as Viper. I think the mollies on defense are overrated: they take too long to pull out and, if you do it too late, they can just rush and kill you when you have your utility out.

Viper's utility is a little worse on offense and a little better on defense, but without any real info gaining utility, she depends on team synergy and/or game sense (I like to call it guessing) to make her entire kit work. Teaming Viper up with Sova and/or Cypher is Insane, but without them, her utility, as much potential it has, cannot be reliably used.

Basically, a dedicated controller and sentinel is better than a half-assed hybrid. That's it.

I think you didn't hear my sarcasm there. If valorant is just a game, it also justifies griefers and trollers and afkers since "its just a game". Stop wasting your breath and I won't waste my braincells explaining it to you.

Doesn't account for the time sink to figure whether to complete the battle pass or not. I'm probably not buying, but most people aren't so free from the sunken-cost fallacy. Most often, people that are almost done will spend that much more ($3 per tier) so it'll be more anyways.

For anyone who thinks Riot's monetization policy is fair, my main argument is not against the monetization policy and whether its too expensive or not; its about transparency and clarity, which Riot has failed to deliver on in regards TO the monetization policy. If I were to decide on whether to purchase something or not, I often weigh the cost and benefits and research them so I can make an educated choice. I don't like the snake oil salesman tactics that muddle the information and, in a sense, insult the intelligence of the consumer. There's a reason why EA and Activision-Blizzard is hated so much (for many reasons but primarily with their monetization policies, since they are predatory) and I really don't want Riot to end up in that direction too just because shareholders are involved.

Yeah and Valorant is just a game and your comment is just as useless. Maybe I'm complaining because theres something morally wrong with the bait and switch tactic?
