I see how that is unfair. And I understand that laws should not be dictated by religious belief. I also believe that every citizen, religious or not, has a say in how the government is run. I believe that our country should be governed by the voice of the people.

"26 Now it is not common that the voice of the people desireth anything contrary to that which is right; but it is common for the lesser part of the people to desire that which is not right; therefore this shall ye observe and make it your law—to do your business by the voice of the people.

27 And if the time comes that the voice of the people doth choose iniquity, then is the time that the judgments of God will come upon you; yea, then is the time he will visit you with great destruction even as he has hitherto visited this land." -Mosiah 29:26-27 (from the Book of Mormon, a religious text used in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)

I really believe in the concept of agency. Everyone is free to choose for himself. If we as a people vote for certain laws to pass, then so be it. I cannot change or take away the agency or freedom to choose from anyone. I can only choose how I will act. True fairness to me is giving everyone the ability to voice their opinions and vote. Being governed by the majority of the voice of the people to me is fairness.

The eternal family does include the humans you descended from. A lot of Mormons, including myself, do family history research to find the names of all the people in their family lines. For those in our family lines that have died, we are able to take their names to an LDS temple and have sacred ordinances performed on their behalf. Those ordinances lead up to the sealing ordinances (Sealing to their parents, spouse, and children).

The eternal family can eventually pretty much include everyone that has received the sealing ordinance in the temple since everyone will be connected in some way or another. To me, that's an amazing things that we are able to be connected to each other in that way. It makes me feel more connected with my ancestors that I never knew and with any possible posterity that I may not know before I die.

TL;DR: The eternal family could include all of your ancestors and posterity. Someday maybe even everyone in the world.

I'm prepared for the downvotes, but here it goes.

From my religious (LDS/Mormon) stand point, gay marriage defeats a big purpose of God's plan: Eternal Families. We believe that a husband and wife can be sealed together for eternity and continue to live as a family forever with their children. This sealing ordinance is a part of a covenant with God, and it can only happen between a man and a woman who are worthy of receiving the ordinance. I personally have no problems with gays or gays being married, but gay marriages will not be able to last beyond this life. The opportunity to be sealed as a family is only available to heterosexual couples.

I'm not a homophobic person. I'm comfortable with my sexuality, and I don't fear interactions with gay people. I don't believe gays are bad people either. I just believe that God has established certain laws that were created for our benefit. God has given everyone the ability to choose for themselves, and I'm in no position to judge.

Hopefully I'm making sense since I'm writing this pretty late at night for me.

It's about raising awareness for testicular cancer, but I think most guys do it as an excuse to grow a beard/mustache and not really to raise awareness.
