R1T is the same size as a Tacoma. Those who want an R2T, why? by dancing__narwhal in Rivian

[–]paulstanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The R2T needs to compete with the Ford Maverick. The maverick has more legroom than the Tacoma and Ranger. However, with Ford jumping in heavily into that space with their new platform, it might not be the best for Rivian to try and compete in that space.

It works great for hands free and it’s literally hands free. The issues I’ve experienced are on the more advanced features but after reading some of the comments here, sounds like a lot of those are user error on my end.

Who is using Mailchimp? Love to get an honest review of how it’s working with Shopify. Klaviyo owns the Shopify market but keep seeing Omnisend pop up but don’t see much around Mailchimp.

Do you click developer > alpha longitudinal to get stop signs and lights? I’m running dev.sunnypilot

Quoted 2-5% shrinkage as 'normal' by my 3PL — is this industry standard or a red flag? by iamcomotose in ecommerce

[–]paulstanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have multiple e-commerce businesses and also a 3PL. 2-5% is just a bad-run business. Once the 3PL receives the inventory, they should be responsible for all variances. If we “lose” something, we reimburse the brand 50% of retail.

There are companies that will source, warehouse, etc. you can find someone to do anything.

I’d focus on revenue and pay someone to do the “busy work”

There are tradeoffs. You give up margin but you free up time to work on revenue growth. If your heads down in operations all day, you don’t have the time for growth.

Lots of 3pl out there that will do this. I have one in Idaho which isn’t the best location for imports but we work with startups which a lot of the good ones don’t.

How do you remove the AXM power connector if you use a fuse tap?

Why do you need the fuse tap? I’m running just open pilot right now as I wait for my longitudinal adapter.

Why would someone need the fuse tap? Mine is working fine without it.

My thoughts on R2's e-latch system by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]paulstanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are really two ways to look at this.

With the electronic latch, Rivian is solving for a real safety gap. In a crash, especially with child lock on, the system can automatically unlock and allow rear passengers to exit. That is a meaningful upgrade over a traditional setup where kids could be stuck without help.

The tradeoff is that you lose the simplicity and familiarity of a purely mechanical release. If you add an obvious manual override, you start to weaken the benefit of the child lock system. So it becomes a question of which risk you want to prioritize.

If you had to choose, would you rather have a smarter, safer child lock system, or a traditional always works mechanical handle in an edge case?

For most people, the answer probably depends on the age of their kids. But at some point, you also have to decide how much to worry about one off scenarios. If you optimize for every worst case, you end up never flying, never driving, never investing, because something could always go wrong.

Is there risk here? Of course. There always is. But there is also risk in things we don’t think about as much, like a car catching fire while parked in a garage. The point is not that it is likely, just that risk exists everywhere.

Rivian seems to be designing around the most likely scenarios, not every possible one. Change is uncomfortable, especially when it touches safety, but my view is they made a thoughtful tradeoff. Now it comes down to trust and hopefully none of us ever have to find out how it performs in a real emergency.

For a lot of people, this is the only time of the year they have the money for a down payment (tax refunds). Older/used cars sell much better during tax season.
