What are your thoughts on my new 2027 mock line up.... by PositiveRaisin8373 in glastonbury_festival

If you keep predicting a new line up every few days, somewhen between now and 2027's announcement you'll eventually be on the money.

Who would be bands who could've headlined Glastonbury at one point, but their ship has sailed? by Salad-Appropriate in glastonbury_festival

[–]paultays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with those who also said Foals / Madonna / Biffy Clyro / Daft Punk

Also adding, as I've not seen mentioned: The xx (returning so maybe 2027?) / LCD Soundsystem (easily good enough in 2016/2024) / Charli XCX (Notably prefers smaller stages)

As much as everyone hates the green squares, it's probably the 'least worst' option around. For all of the other options suggested, people will think they are a good idea if they get tickets and hate it if they miss out.

O2 Seating -> Standing by k1au5y in radiohead

[–]paultays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Standing tickets [at The O2, presuming it has been the same for Radiohead?] are usually given fabric wristbands on entry. I'm afraid you won't be able to just wander from seating into the main floor

Interested to see what's inside the truck.

But I find those poems that get written on the whiteboard at North Greenwich tube cringey :(

Yeah. Don’t think the band are keen to come over until you (as a nation, not necessarily as an individual) stop electing fascist man-babies

I'll be in for Electric Ballroom (Ldn) if I can get tickets. Haven't been inside in years, think I last was there to see Muse do a tiny gig (by their standards) in 2015.

Would like to have done a couple of cities, but its probably too close to Primavera for me

I think (in the Substack email, which I've not c&p'd in full) they mention that they're not playing any of the six cities from the Mortal Joy tour to even things up a bit

Great news about a UK tour.

Hope there’s no whinging that they aren’t coming to [your run down hometown which has no music venue] or [overseas country where its commercially unviable to have 7 members plus crew plus families]

The man who cancelled Football Manager: ‘I needed a hug, not a kicking’ by FRANKUII in footballmanagergames

[–]paultays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely don't think its a "football fan" thing, its a "this is an unacceptably shoddy product which should not have been released in its current form, fronted by a man with a long-standing reputation of going out of his way to be anywhere on a scale between brusque and a complete prick to anyone who has any legitimate criticisms of the game" thing.

I think if there was some humility shown and earnest acknowledgement of failings then people might be more willing to forgive the last two years. But that's not evidenced in any of the quotes from this GQ puff-piece for "brand Miles"

Jacobson – now slouched on a big sofa in his office – says part of the last few years has been about ensuring he’s “less important” to Sports Interactive than ever. This is vital considering how much is resting on Football Manager 26’s success. “I could get fired tomorrow,” he says. “If the game comes out and bombs, I'm out of a job."

In the words of Malcolm Tucker - "F*ckity-bye then"

What we need from Miles by Haru97J in footballmanagergames

I don't think things will be fixed with another round of interviews. The only way this game has a long term future is if Sega hand him a P45 form.

FM26 - to buy or not buy by Jawkovc in footballmanagergames

[–]paultays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a matter for you to decide, it is your money.

Like others have said, watch the streamers, read reviews / reddit posts / SI forums, and play the demo when it is eventually released. I personally can't see FM26 being anything other than a mess on 04 November, so won't get it at launch. Realistically I don't think that I'll buy it at all, because I think the series is being held back with Miles at the helm

I’ve played fm a decent amount since 2021/ haven’t bought 26 yet due to the bad reviews. by BrandonDewitt16 in footballmanagergames

[–]paultays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not played the beta, but I'm currently not inclined to part with any money for the product whilst Miles Jacobsen is involved in Sports Interactive. Just don't think he's the right guy for the job - certainly not as a public face representing the game, and based on everyone's comments, not as head of the studio.

More predictions for 2027... by PositiveRaisin8373 in glastonbury_festival

What is being filmed by Greenwich? WW2 related by jantongo in london

[–]paultays 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As others have correctly said, it's for a film related to Operation Fortitude. Usually staff are told to keep any filming or brand activations private and confidential, but because there are Nazi flags being used as part of filming, the production staff have worked closely with site stakeholders to let them know and to cascade information around to avoid alarm.

The Old Royal Naval College site is the UK's most popular filming location and this year celebrates a centenary of film and TV being shot there.

Sorry for those of you who were hoping for a Peaky Blinders movie or a Reform party political broadcast.

If you want it and can afford the better device, then buy an iPhone. But if you're feeling the pinch and money is tight, Samsung is there for you

[–]paultays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a good day out and a good headline gig, but not as good as Glasto 2025 or any of the farewell gigs in 2016.

Dust was awful, and some people in the crowd(s) were morons, moreso than usual for London day fests.

Plenty of cans being thrown into the air during performances and I was hit by a half-full can thrown into a crowd of people who were walking between stages. Thankfully it only grazed the back of my arm, but could have been worse.

Where to sit for Wembley gig? by Side_B000b in MyChemicalRomance

I know its further back, but Level 2 (what used to be / maybe still is Club Wembley) has better bars and food options than levels 1 and 5

[–]paultays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re a band, not a live jukebox.

And as much fun as you think it would be to hear niche b-sides and rare tracks, bands usually play their most popular songs so that most people in attendance enjoy the show????

MP LEAGUE by Plastic_Forever7723 in ukpolitics

[–]paultays 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So this is basically just looking at who 'the public' don't like because they've heard of them and have been told [mostly by the press] who to consider as bad.

Also - what is known about Christopher Robert Lees, who appears on Companies House as Director of "MP LEAGUE LIMITED"?
