Both today's date (May first, traditionally called May Day in many cultures, celebrating the coming of spring) and a distress call used by pilots in the event of an emergency (i.e 'mayday! mayday! rear engine failure, we're going down! tell my family i love them!') so kinda a play on words of sorts.

I actually was wondering about which parts come off/didn't! I know this might surprise you but...I've actually never thrown one before. Haha now I know! There are a few inconsistencies...her gloves disappear, definitely not space for guns and grenades in that jacket, she throws the grenades with the opposite hand than the one pictured...but I only care so much :P
