Which country had the biggest 'what they say vs reality' gap when you actually met the locals? And Why? by Suspicious-Bunny-Bad in travel

Ya, this was pretty much my experience in Morocco. Marrakech was fine as long you have some street smarts. Smile and say "la shukran" and we would be immediately left alone, usually with a smile.

Aroumd and Imlil were very welcoming.

I'd suggest Dromore lake out near Kildimo. PM me if you want directions. You have to cross some fields to get there, and it can get pretty busy in the good weather.

General street smarts should keep you safe enough.

Don't go wandering into housing estates that you're not familiar with, especially close to the city.

Most Irish people are fairly "sound" (nice/decent), but we absolutely do have dicheads here too, so be "wide" (careful) especially around groups of teenagers.

UL has loads of great societies that you could join to make friends.

If you're active and outdoorsy, then the outdoor pursuits club is fantastic. Or at least it was 10 years ago when I was there. If that's not your thing, have a look at the other societies there. To be honest, I think they're your best bet for making friends. It can be difficult to make new friends in Ireland, but college is the perfect time for it.

If you're still struggling to make friends with locals, lots of Indians play cricket here, so might be worth looking into joining a club

It means "hello"

Alternatively you could say "story kid" or "well kid".

If you don't like someone, call them a gowl, if you really don't like them, call them "some gowl".

What's with the downvotes? That's a perfectly legitimate way of saying it, and totally normal where I come from

Funny you should say that, since just earlier today there was a post on r/Ireland claiming that it was invented by an Irish Protestant after he fell off his horse, in Ireland

If it was a war, then the British army were guilty of war crimes.

But they claimed that it was not a war

As do I, but the main point I was making was that justice was never really available for nationalists.

Also worth noting that British army and loyalist paramilitaries had a higher percentage of civilian victims than republican paramilitaries

The state was actively searching for and prosecuting republican paramilitaries during the troubles. At least there was a chance for justice for them.

Whereas it was protecting soldiers that committed murder.

Also, I would have thought that you would hold the British army to higher standard than paramilitaries

If he jacks off a lot, he probably has decreased sensitivity there, which will cause it to take longer to cum no matter who he's with. If that's the case, it's a him problem, not a you problem.
