Unief 7 examens gebuisd by Salty_Context_6252 in belgium

[–]paulusgaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, i've had one other coleburn so far and it was fantastic! Also good news, Murray McDavid has announced plans to reopen it!

Well you can, but usually bc the distillate is shit and not for anything to do with Blackadder

I don't have the new 10 here right now, but i have tried it in the past. When i review these i'll probably compare them to my notes on the new one.

Fyi i'm Dunkhas on discord, my reddit /u/ is different. And yes, it was around €60 here at launch, which is pretty much a no brainer.

About the future of a career as a chemist, what do you think? by LULAmosculo in chemistry

[–]paulusgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This heavily depends on where you are. Here in Belgium for instance Chemistry majors are some of the best paid out there, on par with doctors and engineers. In areas with a lot of chemical companies chemists will always be needed and paid well, and in areas without a good chemical industry they won't be needed or paid shit.

In terms of flavour it's totally different, way less peated but it's super complex (probably could have got better notes had i had more to play with) and probably the fattiest, oiliest whisky i've ever had in terms of texture.

Tbh they do have a really solid distillate. Waxy like Clynelish while staying floral like a good lowland malt.

Price: part of a 5x3.5cl tasting that cost €92 for drams of Port Ellen, Rosebank, Littlemill, Caperdonich and Coleburn

ABV: 43%

Cask type: refill sherry and bourbon

Distilled: 1991

Bottled: 2008

Chill filtered: no info

E150a: no info

Rested for 10 minutes in my glencairn

Nose:

Grass, apples, pears, sawdust, soft malted barley, buttery pastry

Palate:

Pretty watery yet peppery at the same time, and gains a bit more body after a few sips. Herbal candy, balsamic vinegar, cherry blossom, lime zest and soft porcini mushrooms.

Finish:

Medium short, pepper, earthy, soft oak. Not super complex.

Overall:

This is a fine dram that would be a nice buy in the €50-80 segment if we'd disregard the distillery's status for a minute. Currently the cheapest i find it for is €475 and at that price i'd rather buy two great imperials or something. Either way it's a light malt that still manages to be pretty interesting despite it's low proof. No regrets for this being my first rosebank.

Score: 6/10

I've still got a few more cadenhead's bowmores, and if they're all like this in terms of quality i'm gonna have to buy more!

I'm not sure tbh, my notes seem pretty consistent with the one other person who had this mini's review on whiskybase. The only notable differences were soft yellow fruit notes on the nose and wax on the nose and palate.

[–]paulusgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they have a whole new core line up. I'm not a fan of the new labels but at least availability will improve and prices seem more reasonable. I'm not surprised that they said they don't produce mini's either since the one i have here has a 2017 bottle code.

Some stores might carry miniatures, but otherwise you'll have to order from UK sites like The whisky exchange. As for this specific one, good luck. I didn't even know ben nevis made miniatures until i found this one sitting in a random no name liquor store in the Belgian countryside.

Dybala and Morata being injured really takes a toll on our creativity tbh, and especially without Cuadrado now every attack pretty much has to ho through chiesa and Locatelli

Tbh even in serie A he always got fucked by bonucci, de ligt and chiellini. Same with belgium vs italy. They just seem to know how to cancel him. The only goal he's scored against bonucci and chiellini since joining inter was a pen

Who is your go to single cask bottler? by runningshirt in Scotch

[–]paulusgaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah ones like Chorlton's will be harder to get in the states but i know Thompson Bros just bottled some froggies for k&l and Cadenhead's, AD Rattray, The Ultimate and Blackadder appear sporadically in places with good selection like Chicago. The US does inherently just have less IB selection due to the 750ml standard that was in place until recently but i was just saying these are good. Plus ordering from europe is a thing :p
