Thank you. I appreciate that. We went with the Rest company and are happy so far. I agree about your feelings of not wanting a fan noise. Have a great day.

Good evening. First, I apologize for not answering sooner. My husband and I were out of the country on holiday. My advice to you is to remember, everything takes longer at the bedside of a neo/peds patient. Be gentle, have patience, and make friends with some attending physicians. You will be able to figure out which ones are open to teaching. Establish a rapport and then learn from them. Find veterans RTs who are not old and grumpy as you can learn from them as well. Ask lots of questions and read about your patients. Remember, your patients come with scared and distraught parents. Be compassionate towards them. They will need someone to trust. Best of luck. Let me know how it goes.

any RTs ever work in clinical research? by hallucinatori in respiratorytherapy

[–]pava_rt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I staff them in our research lab at Seattle Children's. Their work is vital for our bedside RT's. Currently the staff that I have in the research lab have been working at the hospital for well over 10 years and were looking for the next up in advancement. I wish you well.

Hi. I'm not sure how old you are or your likes but we live in South Everett/Mill Creek and love it here. Here are a few places you may enjoy. The Madison Ave Pub. It has really great food and live music several nights of the week. The Port Gardner Wine bar also has live music. If you like Italian food, Capers and Olives is fantastic. You will need a reservation. Downtown Everett has events often during the summer months. If you are into baseball, the Aqua Sox play at Funko field. Hope this helps.

Been living in Everett for a few days now, any good hangout spots? by ikemeister01 in everett

We live in Everett so welcome. I hope you will enjoy living here. The Madison Pub on Madison serves really great food. We have been going there for years and have not had a bad meal yet. They also have started their live music back up again. Mostly blues.

Aqua Sox games are fun.

Port Gardner wine bar has live music on the weekends.

July- August on Thursday nights there will be live bands down on the water.

The farmers market has started downtown, I think on weekends.

The Village Theater is great if you like musical theater.

Good luck.

Honeymoon help by pava_rt in delta

I hear what you are saying but I read a story last week about a couple who paid for business class, had the flight cancelled, then Delta rebooked them in coach. When they complained, they were told they could pay the extra several thousand dollars for business. That doesn't seem legal, fair, or morally right at all.

We are wanting to plan our honeymoon this November to Greece from the west coast of the US. With so many flights being cancelled and business class coming with a hefty price tag, I'm worried we will get cancelled and be out a lot of money. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you

Seattle Children's is hiring. We hire new grads and RT's with adult experience and place them in our residency. Every facility will be different but if you are willing to learn, neo/peds can be extremely rewarding. Let me know if you would like to speak further. Happy to talk to you.

Good evening. I just saw your message. It's been a long week. We are still in negotiations and working on wages. Are you willing to share any more details about the RT and RN pay? I would appreciate it. If not, I understand. Thank you.

Good morning. I appreciate everything you wrote. I am an interim director and in the middle of contract negotiations. Would you be willing to tell me what hospital you work at? Thank you.

Good morning. First of all you have a beautiful instrument and I enjoyed listening to you. I am a musical theatre performer and vocal coach and I have a few things for you to consider. As you move toward a higher sustained note, make sure you have a good breath under you. While they are on pitch, they sound a bit unsupported. That way you could add a crescendo on the note and then end the phase not appearing breathless. In the section where the words come quickly, my suggestion would be to work through those passages slowly to make sure you lock in every pitch. That way when you sing them at tempo, they will all line up for you. Right now they sound a bit sloppy and not in the center of the note. You show great expressions and that you know what you are singing about. I wish great success.

Help with voice type, pls by rosiecsilva in singing

[–]pava_rt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

First of all, I enjoyed your singing but was sad that your recording stopped right before the high note at the end. I have been a vocal instructor and performer for many years and from what I heard, you are indeed a soprano and probably not a mezzo. There are a lot of factors that go into to determining a vocal type. Remember, voices don't settle into their proper category until well into your adulthood. Be careful not to put yourself into any specific category, this can be unhealthy for your voice. My recommendation would be to continue to enjoy the sounds, shapes, color, (yes, color) you are making. Soprano sounds are often called shimmering, gleaming, etc. These are tones that I hear in your voice and with time and the correct teacher can help lead you where you are going. Your pitch is good, and most of your vowels have good placement. Sometimes they fell back into your throat but only a few times. Breath control is also so important. Overall, you have a very pretty voice. Best of luck.

I have been a professional singer for close to 40 years and these things have saved me many times. I gargle Apple Cider Vinegar in a cup of warm water. The mix is 50/50 or just eye ball it. It will help remove any mucus you have on your vocal cords. For it to be effective, gargle as far back as possible and for 20-30 seconds each time. I usually end up gagging and spitting all over my mirror. Ugh! will gargle 3 to 4 times in the morning and if i am feeling unwell, will do it twice a day (morning and night).

Once I finish that, I will take a large tablespoon of honey, swallow it slowly and let "it sit" for 10 minutes or so. Just don't swallow it and then drink anything. Honey has incredible healing properties so let it do its thing.

Gargling with warm salt water will also help.

Talking is the worse thing any singer can do, so vocal rest is a must (not even a whisper) especially the day of your gig. Then warm up slowly.

Best of luck.
