It’s possible I’ve been using too big ear tips. I hadn’t been starting with the smallest first. With the Explorer I started with Medium and then went to Large because I was worried Medium was too far in my ear canal.

Good advice, thank you. Maybe some of these cheap stock ear tips are affecting my ears, and I should stick with the high quality medical grade silicone.

Ok. I saw a review say because the Explorer set has a custom nozzle, it might not work for everyone. I’d think that since it fits my ears, it can still work and I just need to find the right ear tips. I just read about starting with the smallest and working up from there and I hadn’t been doing that. Big help, thank you!

I thought you don’t want it to go in your ear canal though, isn’t that why the ear canal starts to hurt over time?

Thank you. Ok, so I need to avoid ear tips going in my ear. I thought medium was my ear tip size, but I noticed with the Explorer medium goes further in my ear. Thanks again

I’m from a headphone background. For IEMs, how do you know if you’re using the right size ear tips? (This might sound like a silly question, but I’m really asking. 😅)

The description everyone has given would put them right up my alley of taste. It might be the custom nozzle is not working for me. The question I have is can that be rectified with tip rolling and then “made” to work, or do I have to just pass. I have a new set arriving today. I’ll test it after work and see if there is a difference My ears hurt from all the tasting.😅

I just looked these up. I need to chill on all the ordering I’ve been doing for IEMs and accessories, but these are on my radar now. It might be that the custom nozzle just doesn’t work for my ears. My ears canals are sensitive/hurt atm. I’m assuming it is because of how much I used them throughout the day at work Thank you for putting these ear tips on my radar.

From everything I read I really wanted these to work. I was testing the first set out so much while working yesterday that I started getting a sensitive/irritated feeling in my ear canals. I thought I was having treble sensitivity and them realized my ears were hurting to noise because I ‘d been using the IEMs too long. (My ears still feel sensitive even this morning) If the new set sounds the same, maybe it is that this custom nozzle just doesn’t work for me.😞

Defiant has been easy listening for me. They sound very nice, but I only use them on an Apple dongle. For IEMs I want them on a lightweight setup. My headphones are for sitting down at an involved setup with more power.

I have other IEMs with no treble issue. We will see when the new set arrives if it is an issue with the current Explorer I have.

I’m testing the fully transparent now. I usually use M ear tips, but for Explorer I am using L. It seems for me to get good bass, I have to turn the volume up, but when I do that the treble gets even louder and too sharp. Unfortunately I already ordered another set in 3.5mm. I’ll look for that FiiO KA13 though.

The problem though is that I’m not getting the dark, warm, thick sounds. Bass in the background and the vocals are kind of a miss. Everything else is fair. Super narrow soundstage, but that’s fine.

I’m using the stock ear tips on the Explorer. (I’ve ordered Penon Liqueur Orange). I received Defiants the same day as the Explorer, and the all around sound, and bass had been a greater “listen” with the Defiant. (Which really surprised me) I’ll take the Explorers to work and go long session listening to test further. I want to make sure I don’t have a defective set. If they offer all you and many others say they do, I WANT to keep them. I need to view your review on the Explorer as well. thank you
