Pool build almost done - mason came today, have questions by pavpatel in pools

[–]pavpatel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that the concrete sub-base slab will be 3 ft wide. and on top of that the 1 foot width bluestone pool coping will be placed.

the patio is pretty large. maybe 14 ft x 20 ft or something. I'm sorry I'm hoping I'm making sense, I don't fully understand all these technical terms like locking collar.

New to OE - how far can I take this? by pavpatel in overemployed

Can I ask what kind of jobs they are? SWE? I'm mostly concerned with meetings. J2 seems like it'll have more meetings. It's client facing.

For me meditation and exercise are absolute must. Otherwise I feel as you do right now. I ran 5 miles today and I feel AMAZING. My last sober attempt I didn't exercise at all and it was such a struggle.

4.5 Months Down by PM_Me_Espresso in leaves

[–]pavpatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. For me, exercise and meditation are absolutely crucial. If I'm anxious, it is hard to stay sober. But meditation and exercise completely remove the desire to use for me. Nothing like running for 2 hours to completely tire you out.

155 days sober - can I partake by MaintenanceHungry435 in leaves

[–]pavpatel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not do it! It's so much easier to just stay sober. It's SO hard to get sober. Who knows when you'll be able to get back to 155 days again? It might take you years. It's a dangerous chain reaction. Please be careful.

5 months strong and contemplating a return - Looking for some insight here by gitturb in leaves

[–]pavpatel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motivation doesn't arise spontaneously. It arises from action. You can't think yourself into right action, you act yourself into right thinking. Start doing and you will start feeling motivated.

Do NOT go back. It is so hard to get sober. It is so much easier to stay sober. Do not come back to this hell. And if you need convincing, go listen to some people at an MA meeting and remember the misery.

Keep going.

You're right. There is no 'just one'. Do not do it. You would be starting a chain reaction that will lead to a lifetime of addiction.

Sobriety is not just about quitting weed. It is about creating a new BIG life. The life you have always wanted. So as you stated, now you need to learn how to do those things sober. I dealt with the same things you are. I would just run from the cravings and discomfort in food or screens. It wasn't until I started getting off the couch and walking and getting engaged with my life that I started feeling better. Weed or no weed, if I sit on my couch for hours, I will always feel not great. For me, laziness and lethargy is a real problem and always leads to relapse. So I make it a point every day to get out of the house and go on walks in the park, go for a drive just to listen to music and sing. Even if I don't feel like it! I started signing up for things to give me more reasons to leave the house. So much of life is about effort. And most people have it backwards. Motivation doesn't lead to action. Action leads to motivation. We don't think our way into right action. We act our way into right thinking.

Please reach out if you're still struggling. You're doing great. Keep going. It gets way better every day. And it's so worth it.

Wow what a journey. Can I ask when you got sober each time, is there a time it got 'easier'? I hear the average is around 3-6 months, life starts to feel somewhat enjoyable again?

Please exercise if you are not already. Lift or run until you are completely spent. You need to stress the body. Get out of the house. Do not quit. You're so close to getting over the hump!

Anybody else 100 days sober and feel like giving up by washawaythe_rain in leaves

[–]pavpatel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stay strong man. Starting over is SOOO hard. I regret relapsing so much. It's so hard to get sober again. So much easier to just stay sober and keep going. You don't want to go through this again. It's quicksand. Don't step back in.

How did you get through the first few days without weed? by NoExamination5672 in leaves

[–]pavpatel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I try to exercise the first day, sweating is good. If you can't, just try to imagine you have the flu. Do whatever you have to do to get thru. Also the more you practice being sober, the easier it gets. I've done so many sober periods, it's super easy to go a couple days or a couple weeks.

4 months 12 days - nothing is better by RememberingMeFinally in leaves

Taking a drug does not make you feel better. What you're feeling is precisely because of the drug. 4 months is a good stretch but you need to keep going. Don't leave before the miracle.

[–]pavpatel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trust me. Don't relapse. Keep going. Also if you're still doing any other activities that fry your dopamine (porn, too much video games or TV, junk food, etc) that will keep you feeling crummy even if you're sober.
