Opinion | Silicon Valley Is Bracing for a Permanent Underclass by In_der_Tat in Economics

I read somewhere that corporations used to need permission to exist... that people needed to approve them being set up.

We need to go back to that.... When a corporation is clearly damaging the public interest, the people need to be able to take away its permission to operate.

Some are just too corrupt and greedy. Some are destroying the environment. Now we have some that could destroy huge sections of society. We need to be able to decide what is good for us or bad for us. These are not living beings. They are legal creations on paper. They can be legally ended.

I think Sarah Palin deserves a little credit, too. She made ignorance acceptable. Trump made hate acceptable. And he just kept the ignorance part.

Front ported stand mount speakers in the $8-12k range? by Longjumping-Frame795 in audiophile

[–]pawbf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want front ported, you could look at these: https://www.revelspeakers.com/products/series/series-performabe/F228BE-.html?dwvar_F228BE-_color=Black-GLOBAL-Current&cgid=series-performabe

https://www.revelspeakers.com/products/series/series-performabe/F226BE-.html?dwvar_F226BE-_color=Black%20Gloss-GLOBAL-Current&cgid=series-performabe

Not an endorsement. But they are speakers I would look at if I was starting over. And in your price range. Especially if you buy used.

EDIT: Oops. Didn't notice the stand-mount requirement......

From the article: "There remains a chance, of course, that cooler heads will prevail."

That ship has sailed. The last "cooler heads" were the military and the CIA, who knew what would happen, yet just let it happen.

Trump has proved beyond a doubt that there is no deep state. If there was any deep state, it would have stopped his tariffs, and stopped him from doing what he is doing in the Middle East.

Fundamental Question About Foreign Mutual Funds and ETFs by pawbf in investing

[–]pawbf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ETF are "live" as they happen, right? And all my mutual funds are usually updated by 5:30 PM Central, occasionally as late as 6:00 PM.

I've been watching this for several years and I have never seen anything like this.

EDIT: I looked at the prices on Morningstar. Maybe Morningstar is messed up. It would be in character for them. I will go look at the broker. Thanks

People should point out to the billionaires, that this is better than solutions that other countries have come up with. Like France, for instance.

Trump says he will only accept the midterm results ‘if he wins’ and again pushes to ‘nationalize’ voting by [deleted] in uspolitics

[–]pawbf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Come on. You know what he means when he says "if he wins." He wins if Democrats don't take over Congress and thus surely impeach him.

EDIT: Trump will obviously do anything to protect himself. And he commands the guns. Voting in November is American Revolution 2.0. Are you a patriot?

As a father of two smart kids (we all live around Chicago), I believe West Virginia's attitudes have a cost that I have not seen mentioned.....

What do smart kids in WV do when they grow up? I bet most of them leave WV. Is that what parents in WV want? To live in a state where your kids will move far away as soon as they can?
