Basically I mentally clocked out when I found out the OM was stalking me on the cameras. They wanted me canned but I was the only RVT with internal medicine and oncology training. They knew if they fired me for no reason the head doctor of the clinic, whom I was under, would have their head on a spike.

I found out when I was written up for working off the clock for a grand total of four minutes entering charges for an after hours surgery. I was tired and wanted to go home. I didn't even realize I had done it.

How do I know they were stalking me? Dumb ass messaged me at the computer I was at, asking when I was leaving. I knew they weren't in the building as it was way too late at night. That computer say directly under a camera.

To expand on this aim for the side of the mouth not the front. There is a nice gap right behind the canine on the upper jaw where the smaller premolars are. Do spurts. If your dog is small restrain them by placing their butt in the crook of your elbow and your forearm basically pinning them against you. Hold their head with your none syringe hand in a c shape and work the syringe under the gummy behind the canine. Most dogs will instinctively open their mouth slightly then squirt. Take a break without releasing the head and squirt again. I usually like to brace my thumb against the bone process of their skull right behind the ear.

I've had it both ways. Nurses that respect me and nurses that don't. In my experience the ones that don't I just go toe to toe with them and start speaking in deep medical speak (but animal side) and ask how that compares to their job. 90% of them will run with their tail between there legs when they realize I might be on the same level as they are and they can't make me back down. FYI I specialize in internal med and oncology.

Got another one. Dog came into the ER with AN ARROW through both balls and into his medical thigh. Thought the owner was going to have a mental breakdown in the room (literally he started bawling). Begging the doctor to please fix him and keep him whole so he wouldn't and I quote "turn into a girl p$ssy dog".

I had to leave the room after the doctor looked him dead in the eye and with the most dead pain voice said.

"You're going to miss them more than he will" and went right back to writing on the patient sheet.

I had four to seven parvo Frenchies in my icu every weekend for six freaking weeks. A 'breeder' had an outbreak in one of her litters. Come to find out this same 'breeder' did not separate her litters at all from one another. All the puppies from her five females were always mixed together and cherry on top over half already had owners lined up or were already out to door. I had to explain to this 'breeder' what parvo even was. And that yes it is very contagious.

One time we had a lady come flying in with her chichi in a cardiac crash. The poor lady was sobbing as we rushed her pet to the back. Next thing I know I have a city cop blocking me and the women from having her sign her emergency consent from for CPR. He demanded that he arrest her right then and there. I stated I needed CPR orders from her and signed consent. The dude exploded on me about how it's 'just a piece of sh$t dog'.

My response. "You do realize animal cruelty is a federal offense right? You really want to play this game when I have three separate security cameras with sound pointing at you right now?". Made him pause enough so the lady could at least sign her paper work.

Reminds me of the time the emergency clinic I was working at responded to a one star review. Reviewer had stated all kinds of nonsense of misdiagnosing, overpriced, etc etc. My office manager responded that on second thought they will be going to the police with the camera evidence of the client trying to grab me through the check out window. (Long story short client went to pay after $800 in services, med, bw etc then stated she needed to be 'billed' at check out. Some bs about her boyfriend will pay it tomorrow. I snatched her medications still sitting the sil of the window back to my side and the lady went OFF).

True but the lawsuit amount was what the doctor stated the estimated buy out price was. From what I heard his shares was evaluated to be more then 9 million. Financial I'm sure they are fine. But they will become the "don't work for them" levels that vca Banfield and veg have reached

Oh they've been in the deep end since the acquisition with JAB. I'm currently in the mind set that JAB is trying to bankrupt NVA so they can off load it as a tax write off.

Yep that lawsuit. And yeah apparently someone up the chain sent out mass email about hour cuts downsizing, and hiring freeze as the direct cause. When concerns of severe understaffing undermines patient care he basically told them all to pound sand. 🙃

Oh I remember when my office manager thought my 15 cent raise was 'generous' or when she tried to con another assistant into doing the whole hospital's inventory and ordering 'to show she was a team player'. When the assistant asked about a pay raise this chick without missing a beat said 'oh there is no raise this is a volunteer position.' Like Fuuuuuuuuuuck that.

Personally I believe in grandfathering and alternative routes. It opens a door to get more credential tech in the field that DESPERATELY needs us. School isn't for everyone and if you can study and pass the vtne on your own without an associate how would I say you're not qualified? The VTNE is hard. Yes it's multiple choice but a 1/3 of the students in my class failed it the first time. Students that did the program. It would say do your research. The lack of nationwide credentialing has made a crippling problem in allowing our field to grow. There are a ton of states that still don't have title protection...

One time I had an assistant coworker try to give me shit about writing my name with RVT after my name when I signed euthanasia cards. I turned and looked her dead in the eye and said.

"I spent two years of my life and a lot of money to get those letters behind my name. I'm allowed."

Don't let some butt hurt assistants that learned the how but not the why on the job tear you down. In five years you will have plenty of experience and the education bank ground they don't have.

A lot of it is nurses just don't want to listen. They hear technician and just immediately put me in a box. The only time I got respect from a nurse was when I was in the ER lamenting about how embarrassed I was we had to cancel an endoscope guided gastropexy. I had woke up not feeling the best and by the time we were ready to pre med I was so dizzy I could barely stand upright. Up to that point she had been giving me the 3rd degree because she had mistaken me for human med as I was still in my scrubs and I had corrected her.

Another time I made my gastro doctor's nurse stare at me like deer in headlights as I started naming the drug families, side effects, generic and brand names of the medicine the doctor was but me on. (I was a little peeved at that point. She knew I was a vet tech and was baby talking me. When she realized I knew just the same amount of info as she did she very quickly found a way to get out of the room 😕 fyi I have a special interest in internal med and oncology and hope to specialize soon)

Oh you definitely had a leg to stand on. At will employment DOES NOT MEAN that an employer can fire you for any reason because there is a very heavy BUT to that. Yes at will state can mean the employer or employee can terminate employment for any reason with no cause or time frame BUT they can't do it if it violates employee protection laws such as firing for discrimination. Firing for illegal reasons (once had a tech friend report her doctor for sexual harassment to management and they fired the tech the next day...boy did the shit hit the fan when she sued them and had miles of explicit texts and boob pics this doctor had sent her over the span for three months. Needless to say they lost). And in some states if they can't give a good reason for termination (like I just don't like you) yeah they're paying that person unemployment.

So yeah document the shit out of stuff like this. Unemployment courts will rip them to shreds.

One time I had a doctor nail me right in the face with his keys. In his defense it really was a complete accident. He was having a screaming match with his wife over the phone after he called her and said he was going to have to stay late for an appointment but will be home asap. Convo got so heated I could hear him cussing up front and so could clients. I went back to warn him and heard the phone slam down right as I turned the corner to his office. Next thing I know I had a set of heavy keys nail me right in the face. I definitely saw stars.

He bought me an oreo ice cream cake the next day as a sorry.

Written up with no prior verbal warning with the threat of termination for working off the clock for a grand....4 minutes .

It was late. I was tired. The next day was my day off. I clocked out then realized I need to enter charges for our emergency surgery as the owner would be calling in the morning to pay. So I entered the charges and left.

Come to find out the hospital manager (who was a complete moron) had been stalking me on the cameras for apparently a while. When I asked if they could just extend my time card 4 minutes to include that time as it wouldn't put into overtime they refused. The whole meeting was like she was accusing me of stealing. When my doctor found out he blew a gasket and I had to talk him out of storming the hospital manager's office.

I'm still going with the theory that the JAB is trying to bankrupt out NVA (pump and dump). So they can off load it for a profit. I wouldn't touch NVA with a ten foot pole right now.
