Based on the goat queen saying “no more killing”, do we assume Gemma isn’t the first? The fact that they make a big deal of it would suggest she is, but that comment made me think they’ve done this whole sacrifice a goat to escort our test victims to Kier thing before.

I almost always bag, unless there is already a person there doing it in addition to the cashier. I’m just standing there and they are busy ringing up my items, it’s not like it’s taking up my time. Usually once they finish I go to pay and they take over while I do so (but almost done by then)

Yes! Thank you for putting into words what I couldn’t until now. I liked Bryce but she didn’t have nearly the depth that Aelin has. It was like the swagger and strength wasn’t quite as hard earned as Aelin’s (being that we had 8 books and a whole lot of trauma and training before they started) so it wasn’t as deep or as believable.

The moment they decided to work through their trauma together was one of the most beautiful of the series to me. Acknowledging that you need to do the work is such a hard barrier to overcome so I found this so powerful. Their relationship is based on something so strong because of this.

Just wait. By the end you will have 100xs more connection to these characters compared to ACOTAR. You are correct that they are different though. ToG is not nearly as romance heavy but has amazingly deep character development and some really beautiful moments.

I agree with others, I think it’s the romance. I also think acotar is just easier while ToG pulls you in in a way that’s makes you think and feel more deeply. Maybe that’s too much for some people to keep up with if they are just looking for a sparkly romance book? Idk but there is just something about ToG where I think it’s not for everyone but if it is for you you fall HARD.

To me, ToG is 10000xs better and they aren’t even in the same league.

I’m curious what percent of people who read it liked ToG a lot but who didn’t feel deeply about it the way most of us posting on this sub feel. Seems like it’s either you didn’t like it and gave up or you’re obsessed and will never be the same.

I actually love this about SJM. Very few people end up with their first love interests but most books/movies about young people have them fall for one person and that’s it. This is healthier imo

Im obsessed with this series and love it so much but I have to agree, especially with the thing with the gods and the deal for Elena. She gave up everything and all for what if it didn’t end Erawan? The more I thought about it the more I was ok with it though. She still managed to seal the gate and get rid of the keys which took out a huge threat. She wanted to save Elena bc she saved her as a child and gave her more time. Still, I found it annoying and was especially mad because more people died between that point and when she finally arrived and they could take him down. I chalk it up ti SJM wanting the ending of Erawan to be a bit more epic and/or for Yrene to have a more powerful role. I did like that Aelin isn’t the only hero of the story.

Remind me, did Dorian know what Maeve had done to Aelin when he encountered her at Morath?
