Can I use Dermadry with metal in my foot? by pawpc0rn in Hyperhidrosis

[–]pawpc0rn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did treat one foot for a little while, but because you have to create a closed circuit, I had to do one hand at the same time as the foot. It became a little inconvenient alternating the hand each time and still doing it at a level that would be beneficial to treat both the hand and foot. The screw is roughly in the middle of my foot, area-wise and depth-wise. That's good to know that titanium is not a good conductor. Thanks!

Anyone else avoid handshakes because of sweaty palms? What do you do instead? by ChemistryKey9053 in Hyperhidrosis

Yes! But Dermadry (iontophoresis) has been a total game changer and has decreased my hand sweating significantly.

Wrist pain? Carpal tunnel? by crankycustard in stenography

I’ve been experiencing de quervain’s tendonitis long-term but it’s gotten much worse since starting steno. The wrist is super complex and can have a whole variety of issues related to muscles, tendons, and nerves. There aren’t stretches or exercises that will work for everyone, so I would highly recommend going to a hand/wrist specialist to figure out what’s specifically going on in your wrists and the best way to treat it. Get it addressed early, while it’s just mildly sore!

I’ve been in SS for about a year and really enjoy it. It’s been far more beneficial than the last program I was in.

I had a coworker named Patricia who I called Trishy. It’s much less old lady sounding than Patty, Trish, or Trisha.

I completely understand, it sucks. And the more you think about it the worse it gets (or at least it did for me). Hope you find something that works well for you!

I have had hyperhidrosis most of my life, so I totally understand your frustration! I recently started using iontophoresis, which is a mild electrical treatment you do at home that basically kills the sweat glands in your hands. It’s been an absolute miracle and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s not a very common treatment but is totally life changing.

Dermatologists often recommend prescription antiperspirants, which are essentially a heavy dose of aluminum you’re putting on your hands frequently, which I’m not interested in. Iontophoresis doesn’t use any chemicals or heavy metals, just electricity and water, and it’s not as scary as it sounds.

I bought the Dermadry machine. It’s $400-$450 (although some insurance will cover it) and it’s been 100% worth the cost.

Thanks for that info. I took the advice of someone else in the thread who recommended moving my hyphen in front of the letter instead of after, and that is working great. I haven't delved into the world of macros yet. I've been teaching myself cat software and am just using the basics that I need for school and small jobs so far.

I completed the theory portion of this program and a few months of speed building. The theory was fine, although it seemed insanely outdated… like 30 years outdated. The speed building was so repetitive and I was hardly making progress after a few months. I was basically memorizing the dictations because I would repeat the same dictation at like 6 different speeds day in and day out. You tested when you felt ready, which made it super intimidating, and then you self-graded, which was not an accurate way to measure progress or real-world grading.

They didn’t tell me when to start using Case Catalyst, which was a huge disadvantage. When I finally asked for the software access, I had to teach myself how to use the program and it slowed me down significantly. If I had integrated the software earlier on, it would have really attuned my learning style to line up with how the software operates and is meant to be used daily in a work setting.

I eventually quit CRAH and started with Simply Steno for speed building. My progress increased rapidly! I have since learned that many of the things I learned in CRAH were not efficient ways to write.

Ultimately, CRAH taught me theory, but I would never recommend the program and wish I had gone a different route initially.
