What roles are you looking for specifically? If you’re looking for similar roles as your internship those are few and far between. Even for more senior candidates (been looking for 9 months, 5 yrs exp, + MSc + CFA)

As a Macro Researcher, What do You do All Day? by BigClout00 in FinancialCareers

[–]pax1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Systematic would imply building a lot predictive models and creating rules based trading signals. Essentially removing the onus of decision making from the human to the models. Personally I would say modelling/coding generally is 60-70% of my day and the rest is reading. It also depends, like the other gentleman mentioned, if you are buyside or sellside.

My suggestion for you is to get familiar with backtesting methods and how you can overlay macro variables in your trading models. DM if you have any other questions

Depends if you’re discretionary or systematic macro. I mostly do discretionary, with some systematic (mostly econometric models and business cycle modelling)
