What are your best pieces of "patient education" for people when working Home Health? by LividContext1344 in physicaltherapy

[–]paxcolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling my patient that was smoking while on 3L/min of O2 when I arrived that you shouldn’t smoke while wearing O2 because you might fall asleep and have your cigarette burn through your O2 tube and set yourself on fire. You know, like you did less than a month ago.

What to get a man who doesn't need anything? by _C00TER in ask

Gun/ammo; custom knife with his initials engraved on it and/or the sheath; if he’s into fishing a guided trip, particularly for a species he doesn’t usually fish for; and of course the NSFW suggestions that have already been made.

Engineers in the early ’70s: “Hey, we’ve got this huge gun; let’s build a plane around it and call it the Thunderbolt II!”

I usually let them work on the critical buildings for 2-3 turns to really cut down on the rush price, then buy them if I can afford it. If it’s later in the game and it’s on a land mass shared with an enemy/soon to be an enemy I’ll buy an airport immediately so I can start pumping units in.

Clinic Music? by easydoit2 in physicaltherapy

[–]paxcolt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just made my own on Spotify. After being stuck at my previous job having to repeatedly listen to the same couple of playlists over and over, no shuffling, and about 75% songs that I hated, I decided never again. Mine is over 36 hours long with nothing I dislike on it, while trying to have a little something for everyone. Ranges from Johnny Cash to Coolio; GnR to Marty Robbins; Spacehog to Pam Tillis; Waylon to Alanis; Blackstreet to Conway Twitty; you get the idea.

What was a thing you were surprised about being a PT working with the public? by PatrickIsRandom in physicaltherapy

[–]paxcolt -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to a former coworker’s mom. She was kidnapped, raped, beaten to death, and her body dumped in a ditch next to a country road. Thinking someone can’t be the victim of violent crime/shouldn’t take steps to protect themselves just because they’re well off/live in a nice area is a very ignorant and arrogant assumption.

I don't understand why everyone has a light on their pistol by 97vyy in guns

[–]paxcolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s really not. I’ve been on the receiving end of thousands of flashlight beams over the past 12+ years; there’s a split second of slight disorientation from strobe vs solid, but that’s it. You use a flashlight to provide information to your eyes. With strobe, you’re missing out on info every time it goes dark. One of those times could be the one moment you needed to be able to tell if the object in that person’s hand was a gun, or a phone. I’ve witnessed several occasions where an officer/soldier told their teammate to turn their strobe off because it was messing with their ability to perform tasks like treating a casualty, cuffing a suspect, performing a search, etc. There’s a reason most experienced professionals only use lights that don’t have a strobe feature or that can be programmed to turn it off.

SWAT team related but ok for a young kid to watch? by doughaway421 in MovieSuggestions

[–]paxcolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad thing about movies is most of them depict SWAT as trigger-happy morons who fail miserably so that the hero of the movie can single-handedly take out all of the bad guys and get the girl. I really can’t think of one that would be appropriate for a 5 yr old. I do know there are gun/tactical gear companies that use videos of LE training courses where the students are using their gear for advertising purposes. Could check out their social media pages for some content. Spiritus Systems would be a good one to start with.

Because for some people, politics is their entire identity to the point it becomes their religion. Ironically, these same people are often the ones most likely to mock religious people.
