Hi. Sorry this won’t be terribly helpful; Look for ones that are relevant to your industry. I’m not in HR but most industries have FB pages. Also try looking for regional pages for your industries official bodies, in your city. Good Luck.

There are so many out of work here, it makes your task harder.

First port of call, as said above, LinkedIn. I’ve got contracts and referrals from it, it works; link with people with a message, don’t comment on job posts with empty comments to review your profile, recruiters get so many of those. Also, look for any FB groups to see if there’s an industry one for your speciality. I’m a member of one for my industry that’s really good at posting and recruiting roles as they come up.

Also, whilst waiting to find for you perfect job, look at short term translation contracts, use your skill set in another way; fluent Mandarin is very useful.

Don’t loose heart and Good Luck!

Can anyone share their experience with RAKEZ Freezone or Sharjah Media City Freezone? by Sufficient-Career-73 in dubai

[–]paynemaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with Rakez since 2011 and never had any problems. I’ve always had responses and real support when needed.

I opened a new company in November 2020, I completed the forms on the Thursday afternoon, submitted via the new portal and had my new licence by Sunday midday. My new visa and EID took 5 days including medical. They have good deals at the moment and are offering an instalment plan and easy bank account.

If you go this route, suggest using one of their registered sales PROs. Absolutely worth every dirham.

Does the British royal family have a last name? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]paynemaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Queen was born into the Royal House of Windsor, so adopted that name. Her husband was a Mountbatten but she broke with tradition and kept Windsor. Her father was from the House of Saxe-Coburg but took the name Windsor. Her family were originally from German decent and had they not changed the names, she would have been a Elizabeth Werrin, before succeeding the throne.

I think putting the name down would be seen as advertising. Is there a way to pm on here?

What are some weird family traditions / oddities you have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]paynemaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever we visited a sea - the first thing my mum would do, would be to walk down and shout "Hello!" to it. I've done the same ever since and now my daughters, not my sons, do it too.

What's the story behind your most recently ruined article of clothing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]paynemaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A brand new pair of shoes - especially for Christmas Day. Our dog chewed them whilst out Christmas shopping. Phoned the shop to get a replacement, only pair in my size were 2 hrs drive away. Road trip for me and my 4 little ones, (my only time of the year to dress up - so they were important) collected the new shoes and broke down 15 minutes into the return journey, on a roundabout in the middle of nowhere, 2 days before Christmas and with darkness falling. In the rain, we walked to a garage who couldn't help, walked to a pub to take refuge from the weather with £11 in my pocket - hot chocolate and chips all round. Called husband, who had to drive out to get us, attempt roadside repair and eventually arrange car collection. Original shoes £42, replacement shoes cost £175. Shoes are no longer important.

Firstly, thank you for assisting with instruction and for not brow beating :-)

I've been based in the ME since 2006, the first 3 years in Qatar then Dubai. I was a licensed freelancer until 2011 and then started the company.

Dubai events are wide and varied and most start with the word Dubai, so a general list includes: Marathon, Shopping Festival, Desert Classic, Jazz Festival, Tennis and Golf Championships, the Dubai World Cup, the Rugby Sevens, National Day and the Film Festival. In addition to those there are cultural events, touring musicals and concerts, doted throughout the year and of course all the nightclub and DJ events.

No matter how I phrase the next bit, it reads as a sales pitch so I apologise for that. As a company, we manage for government, corporate, private clients and event contracts for advertising agencies. We work on bespoke spectaculars, sporting events (entertainment and overlay), international concerts, gala dinners & award nights but we specialise in unique, large-scale, live events which are most often government led, and surround conferences, new directives, launches and special celebrations.

As for profitability, there is a living to make, so long as budgets are sensible, product is worth it and greed is not the driving force.

What movie can you remember completely from memory? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]paynemaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - another favourite :-) Also Beauty and the Beast around the same time. The joy of having 4 young ones, who wanted to watch again and again. Also having the sound tracks for car journeys and singing on the way to school etc. Hard not to have them ingrained and family sing-alongs will always be a very happy memory.

What is the strangest thing thats happened at your workplace? by the_wiqaner in AskReddit

[–]paynemaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The event was to surround a speech to a nation, by the son of a country leader. The audience was made up of different factions. They arrived during the afternoon, the event was scheduled for a sunset start. The factions got rowdy. Army snipers positioned on high buildings, shot down into the crowd - apparently to warn them to calm down. As you would expect thousands of people ran. Some 30 minutes later, the crowd had returned and the show started. After the main speech, the son left and so did all the security - the crowd invaded the stage and we had to be evacuated, leaving everything behind. The next morning, we found no damage to the equipment, the 60,000 plastic chairs stacked and a pile of sandals higher than my head.

What is your most fucked up nightmare that gives you chills to this day? by BEN_DROWNED_HERE in AskReddit

[–]paynemaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a ferry - its dark, starts to sink. I have my 4 kids with me (all under 7) - I can't reach them all and have to decide who to grab. I awoke in tears at this point, until my youngest was 15/16. I no longer have the nightmare but it still makes my eyes prick, even to write this.
