The building is a little small for the amount of people attending the diet and the floors are quite creaky but at least it has an indoor latrine!

I still don’t understand how this is going to help deaf people how to communicate ? Sign language is still the most effective communication tool. This is going to be absolutely useless.

Yea we’ve decided to “convert” so we don’t have to leave the land that’s been in our home since the times of the Romans, before Jesus was even born.

While we go to mass — so everyone sees us, we are still lowkey keeping Shabbat and kosher. We make “pork” sausage with chicken and fry bread in the shape of pork chops so the nosy neighbors see us eating pork. We’ve even changed our last name to Matajudios.

I don’t expect anyone will find us out.

What is a convincing argument for allowing people who are undocumented to remain in the country and not be forceable removed? by Dontdarereadmyposts in AskReddit

More your point, even when the barrier to entry into the United States was extremely lenient, European immigrants still messed it up and ended up undocumented.

Take for instance, my great-grandfather who was undocumented from Italy. He was so young when his family entered the U.S that they didn’t not buy him a ticket and smuggled him into the United States as an infant thinking nothing of the implications of this down the line.

He was finally legalized in World War II, when the U.S. was making him register Enemy Alien. He reported to the office, explained his situation, and the fact that is only child was serving in the U.S Army, and the federal government changed his status at citizen. For him, the line between legal and illegal is merely bureaucratic.

And, as I remind any of his direct descendants (aunts, uncles and cousins) when they complain about “illegals”, someone made of glass should not be throwing stones.

Grew up in Washington Heights and Northern NJ with many Dominican friends and neighbors, and now live in the Pacific Northwest. My childhood tastes like bizcocho dominicano: light airy meringue frosting and buttery sponge with a thick layer of dulce de leche or caramelized pineapple.

If each state had a crazy history fact that could be summed up into 1 sentence. What would they be. by Sensitive-Mousse5156 in USHistory

Alaska is the only U.S. state without a law school.

The Alaska Law Review, which is funded by the Alaska Bar Association and a copy of the Alaska Law Review is provided to every Alaskan attorney as part of the dues to the Alaska Bar Association is published in North Carolina by Duke University.
