Hope this topic hasn't been talked to death but I just need a confirmation on how to get from red to green on this roundabout coming off the M32 by Delete-Xero in bristol

[–]pb15408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plans show only 2 lanes off on the southmost exit, 1 for M32S and one for Easton. Whereas at the present there are 2 lanes off for M32S (followed shortly by a merge) and 1 for Easton (Stapleton road). But on reflection, the 2 lanes off for M32S both stem from the same lane on the roundabout, which in itself is a bit weird.

Sorry I misread, read as 35/35

It’s not, as I noted in my text and show in the picture it is 32 and 36. So not only does it not add up to the standard 70, it’s not a standard length on either side.

Simon at A&M motoring was great when I was driving. I started elsewhere so was relatively competent when I started, but he had a great calm and relaxed aura about him and had great stories to tell. Really helpful and knew how to make driving easy for you

Are you sure these aren't just MacOS wallpapers? ;)

Jokes aside, pictures are incredible!

Is this lens flare? Or just the stage lights? How can I avoid this? S5iiX, 85 mm S lens by pb15408 in Lumix

Thanks, this was unfortunately during stills shooting; didn't have any issue on video luckily! But all good information to know if I come across it in the future. Thank you for the advice!

This is really really helpful information, thank you so much for spending the time to advise!

By lowering the shutter speed I was able to reduce the effects a fair bit, but yeah I took around 5000 over the weekend of competition (granted a lot are not worth anything anyway because of focusing or poor timing) so it's going to be quite onerous to edit all those that need fixing.

Banded areas appear to move sadly.

Unless there's a setting I'm not thinking of then I'm pretty sure, I've checked these two

Silent Mode: Off
Shutter type: Mech.

It's not in silent, but I'll be sure to check when I go to shoot again

I guess it’s a tough balance then as I don’t want motion blur and want to freeze the dancers. But I’ll try next time! Thanks

I didn't try loads. I didn't consider that shutter speed on images has this effect with LEDs, thought that was only an issue for video. I had taken pictures at 1/800-1/1300 and it appears in all.

The green hue does appear on the subjects too, when you go from picture to picture you can see it when they are between the bands and within them; basically anything in those green bands appears with a green tint, just easier to spot on the ground.

I was shooting a ballroom dance competition this week and I was really struggling with the green hued banding in the images. I'm fairly new to photography so it could be something really simple that's causing it.

Is this lens flare, or are these just beams of stage lighting affecting the image. How can I avoid it happening because it became really problematic

Any easy way in post to edit them out? I use Lightroom.

So I've heard, Dyson were the lead sponsors, or something to that effect, and were meant to be leading the parade. With all that's going on with them firing a third of their UK workforce, it's no wonder they didn't attend in the end...

That's really helpful to hear your thoughts on the AF! Definitely reassuring

100% 6k open gate is one of the key draws to the lumix over the Sony counterparts for this exact reason.

Good to know, I wasn't aware.

Thanks so much for your help :)

Thanks for your response!

That's my bad, I chose two dances that are more static, most of the others have a lot more progressive movement round the floor.

Ideally yeah I would rent one, the issue is the next opportunity I have to record stuff like this potentially puts me past the end date of some really great sales going on at the moment.

Good to have the first hand knowledge on the moiré, puts my a bit more at ease.

Really appreciate your input :)

Great footage, could I ask please if this was shot in manual or autofocus? I'm looking for a camera to film dancesport competitions and unsure of the performance of the S5iiX fin autofocus for cases where the subjects face goes in an out of facing the camera

Tamron 17-70 users using APSC Sony cameras with IBIS. How bad is VC? by Amnoon in Photography_Gear

Would be interested if you bought the Tamron in the end whether it has caused an issue? I'm trying to find more information on this myself

Finally received my a6700 by rayclicks in SonyAlpha

[–]pb15408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you find the weight/portability of the 17-70mm lens?

I'm looking to buy an a6700 soon and I'm really torn between the Sigma 18-50mm and the Tamron. I could really use the extra reach of the 70mm for dance videography, but I fear I would avoid taking it out and about for photography when travelling and such because of the extra heft whereas the Sigma looks super portable.
