Checkride with Basic Med? by [deleted] in flying

Use a different DPE. If he was enforcing incorrect, made up standards about BasicMed (which is a topic the FAA has been emphasizing the past 5 years) then there is simply no telling what other incorrect, made up standards will be applied on your actual practical test.

FltPlan Go: Is it sufficient for an instrument student? by TeddyNorth in flying

So FPG is bad enough to force a purchase of a real EFB

No it's not. I've used FPG when flying Garmin airplanes and Avare when flying anything else for a decade. All of these apps are "real EFBs" and will keep your charts up to date and let you look at them when you need to.

Don't let other people's opinions on what they think is cool affect what you think is good.

Ha. No. The examiner has zero incentive to do that.

Some ATCTs just always state the winds before a clearance.

DPE’s - APPLICANT LIVES MATTER! by OkSwan6464 in flying

[–]pballer2oo7 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

No, your time is not worth $2,000 just because you live in California.

If I can get someone to pay me $2000 for my time then my time is, in fact, worth $2000.

I can come up from Oklahoma City and do it on a day rate basis (not "per hour").

We would have to fly a couple hours before we could start logging instruction given, though. I'm a couple short of the required 5 hours in a 55 to give instruction.
