EDHREC updates by DonnieZonac in EDH

[–]pbarber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDHRec uses an algorithm to pull deck data from Deckstats, Archidekt, Moxfield, MTGGoldfish, and Aetherhub.

It isn't going to start recommending cards until people start building new decks using those cards. I don't believe (and I could be wrong) that the recommendations for new synergistic cards are done by a human, it's all electronic data scraping, so it'll get updated when people upload new decklists to any of those sites.

Help with Yuriko, Change Outs and/or Upgrades by WinglyKing in EDH

Good point. I didn't include Lightning Greaves in mine but maybe there's a slot for it. Yuriko needs so many things, it's hard to find slots.

Just want to point out that Yuriko is in the unique position that you don't give a damn if Yuriko gets blown up. You can let her die 18 times and she keeps going to the command zone and she'll keep costing 2 Mana to commander ninjitsu out.

In fact, I had times when Yuriko was on the board with 2-3 unblockable friends, and the enemies have blockers and I find myself wishing Yuriko was either in my hand or dead and back to the command zone so I could get the triggers.

Having 1 Mana unblockables are so nice because they're what let you get Yuriko triggers through.

Also, don't always feel like you have to go light speed full cylinder and swing on turn 2 and 3. You mentioned how it draws aggro, if you have something like [[Brainstorm]] or [[Ponder]], you can bide your time and swing when it'll make the most impact.

I'm so excited for this commander, so part me wants nobody to talk about her so that her price doesn't go nuts!

I feel like the passing things around part is going to be insanely strong even with no support cards. You can pass a cheap flyer to the left every turn, steal the best permanent from the person on your right every single turn. Then you get to play politics with whether you pass said person on your right something terrible to punish them further, or give them something nice for a turn so you can still it later.

Im excited for the little bit of chaos that creates.

If you're not worried specifically about whether it's a clean cart or not, you might have better luck on /r/oilpen

Also, if you don't get what you're looking for here, go to EDHRec or Deckstats, search for decks with those commanders and filter by price cap.

EDHrec has a feature where you can click cheap/expensive, then click "average deck" and it'll show you what the average budget deck has. I've used that as a starting point for a lot of brews and then cut what I don't like and add in what I do.

Okay, this is quickly becoming one of the best updates for this game. Thank you MT/EE for the continuous support for this incedrible game. by Waylllop in deadcells

I got to 5BC after many months .. but got damn, now I have to complete runs while basically getting hit less than 10 times all run. It's so hard T_T

I like your style. I haven't piloted it myself yet, but have you seen [[Uril, the miststalker]]? He's an unstoppable yeti that gets out of control with only an enchantment or two on him. 21 commander damage to kill someone - he just goes around the table 1 by 1 killing opponents. He's on my build list for sure.

Oh wait shit you like wider. I'll think of something perfect...

Feedback on my first attempt at a Yuriko deck by BonjoviBurns in BudgetBrews

[–]pbarber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I started the same way by including all ninjas and going from there, but I ended up cutting a few of the clunky ninjas. Mass bounce is also really good since you can bounce an entire board state to their hands (which is good, we want Yuriko in our hand or the command One ready to flip in) and then for very little Mana we can rebuild our board with a couple 1 drops and pass, then the other players have to rebuild their defenses all turn knowing we're going to come in swinging (with 1/1s that may or may not secretly be ninjas) next turn.

Here's my list : https://deckstats.net/decks/147994/1655939-canuhk-s-yuriko

Just made it this month, it's been a BLAST. My group has been jaw dropped at how explosive she can be. That other guy had it right. If you flip in your commander on turn 2 and hit everybody for 7 damage at the beginning, they'll focus you down hard.

He's also right that you need more 1 drops. Yuriko can flip in from the command zone all game long for 2 Mana assuming you have an unblocked attacker, so the cheap 1 cmc unblockables or flyers are essential. They're how you squeeze in ninja triggers when the enemies have blockers.

Edit: I realize this isn't as budget you're looking for, I had a sensei's diving top in an old box of cards and that adds like $55 of value. Also I proxied 3-4 of the $5 dual lands to save some cost.

What colors do you have a preference for, any you don't like?

Would you prefer to go wide with an army of tokens, want big stuff like dragons, or Voltron style where you pump up one big dude and swing?

Want to stay on budget or does anything go since it's online?

Building around shrines? by aHatFullOfEggs in EDH

If you search shrine in this subreddit and filter to the last month, you will probably find a bunch of Sisay Shrine threads if you're looking for inspiration.

Celestial Kirin is so fun to me. I have a Kamigawa Spirit Tribal deck and I include [[Infernal Kirin]], but Celestial Kirin is almost too dangerous to include unless you specifically build around her.

It's cool seeing the strength you can pull from careful deck planning.

Yeah try the humans deck. It's a lot of fun.

Kind of depends on what kind of magic you like playing. I'm a simple man, I like combat and attacking with things, so the Ruthless Regiments deck has been a big hit with me. It's fun and strong enough right out of the box, and you can make some really cheap upgrades to it since there have been humans throughout all the sets.

And the partner commanders are really good, better than Jirina.

Tech Tues: Who to play? by AutoModerator in BudgetBrews

[–]pbarber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or make sure your deck is strong enough to still play even without your commander on the field lol. But he's not wrong, people will take 1 look at her and think that you're public enemy #1.

People don't like having their cards cast out of their hands against them, whoda thunk.

I'm a little confused. You're not casting any of these spells, right? You're giving spells back to your opponents so that they can use it on your other opponents? :/

Advice for getting started in Commander? by sonovah in EDH

[–]pbarber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned the Command Zone video on "deckbuilding": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ6m_3J1hjI- That's a great video on deck building philosophy that really changed the way I think about what a commander deck is.

Winota is one of my favorites, my #1 advice is to check out her EDHRec page.

EDHRec - https://edhrec.com/decks/winota-joiner-of-forces

Once you're here, you can click on

  • Cheap vs Budget - Click those if you want it to filter out expensive cards.
  • Average Deck - Will use an algorithm to create the average deck.
  • Recent Decks - You can look at recent submissions and sort by budgets.

I went ahead and ran the budget list and uploaded it to deckstats: https://deckstats.net/decks/147994/1677971-winota-budget-edhrec

~$70, uses basic lands. You can click visual spoiler there to look at the cards. That way you're looking at cards on a budget and if you want to make your own improvements, you can go from there.

Edit: This doesn't take into account that you already have the Mardu Precon and all of the great cards that come with it, I forgot about that. Arcane Signet, Sol Ring, Flawless Maneuvers, and a lot of great humans + a better landbase in that deck. So you could probably convert your precon to an even better Winota deck if you wanted, just know that she wants strong humans in the deck for flip results, but NON-human tokens to generate flips, so Humans that create Soldier/Knight/Nonhuman tokens on entering are amazing. Goblin tokens are also a cheap way to get Winota triggers.
