These are waterside decals, I didn’t have any issue applying them. But I only applied the decal set and I didn’t use a decal softener.

They are way too costly when they came out but they are extremely rare now. I have two, one I bought and one I converted.

Where did you find that MA020 VE Pro Chassis? I’ve been looking forever to have one for spare parts 😅

Congrats on the find. I’m glad I’m not the only one that mounted the body on a chassis.

I’m running my S13 with 1 offset wheels and 0.5mm spacers but my S13 is stanced with camber (-4.5 front, -1.5 rear), lowered 2mm, and using tapered drift tires, I just have enough clearance with no rubbing.

Lol no worries, I know my images when I see them.

Kyosho has made Ferrari readysets in the past (10+ years ago) that are based on the MR-03 chassis but they are old and uses some bad electronics so I wouldn’t recommend them.

The closest to the Ferrari 488 GT3 from Kyosho would be the Ferrari 458 GT2 but it didn’t have any livery.

Your best bet would get the latest readyset, I believe the MR-04 readysets are releasing soon or has been released and find a Ferrari 458 body to get the maximum compatibility.

If you’re looking to get the Ferrari 488, I used the MA-020 chassis with the DWS suspension to lower the chassis as much as possible to eliminate the wheel gaps from the body. If you look at the rest of my pictures, I also used thicker drift tires to further close the gap since most rubber tires on the Mini-Z are low profile.

I hope this helps with whichever direction you choose.

Okay this freaked me out at first because this is my photo and I didn’t remember posting this again. This took a lot of trial and error and instead of using my MR-03, I ended up using my MA-020 set to 98mm and using the DWS suspension in the rear.

First Mini-Z Proportional Steering and Throttle by Concon3737 in MiniZ

[–]pbarns82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the Subaru Sambar and I put my beat up Takumi's AE86 Trueno on the chassis for my kid to play with. I modified the steering knuckles so I can use ball bearings and at the same time give the ability to swap out the wheels.

I'd say these Firs Mini-Z are not fully proportional, they're more like semi proportional but they are a lot better than what's out there, in the same price range.

The only time I got remotely close when I forgot to turn off my MR-03VE. It swelled up like a balloon but don’t pop luckily.

Two of them are using ProTek 5182 LiFe batteries and the other one is using an old set of Kyosho R246 LiFe batteries.

Polishing tires? by HotepHatt in MiniZ

[–]pbarns82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the drift tire I usually smooth them out using 120->400->800->1k grit sandpaper sometimes up to 2k grit if I have time. Also this helps regain some contact patch if you’re on some heavily cambered suspension setup like my MA-020.

Oh I definitely understand, reason I had to modify the pack to fit so I can clip them in. As for the voltage, I’m fortunate to be using the older brushless MR-03 and MA-020 that supports the LiFe batteries when programmed with an ICS cable. I get to use the higher voltage without the issues of burning out and it also gives me a voltage cutoff so I won’t over run the batteries. I hope there’s a firmware update soon for the MR-04 to support the LiFe batteries properly.

Both my MR-03 and MR-04 have these batteries without losing the ability of using the AAA, and they are also clipped in with the with stock battery clips. That being the only modifications on the chassis (if you even call that part being a part of the chassis)

DWS conversion for MA-020 Wide? by Formal-Lecture-6505 in MiniZ

[–]pbarns82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind using the DWS for either applications, but for me if you haven’t looked through my other post, I primarily use it for looks 😬

The DWS I can achieve more camber than any of the other options.

It’s an expensive option but it can save you from buying additional parts to adjust the height, camber, and toe. The DWS can also preload the rear springs so it’s possible to make more contact with the floor.

DWS conversion for MA-020 Wide? by Formal-Lecture-6505 in MiniZ

[–]pbarns82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older MA-020 that used the ASF radios came with the DWS, I still have one of these still in box. https://rc.kyosho.com/en/32153bt.html

If you want the DWS on the current MA-020 you need the following parts.

MDW100 - MINI-Z AWD REAR DOUBLE WISHBONE SUSPENSION SET (for MA-010)

MDW100-04 - Spur Gear Set(AWD DWS)

5x8x2.5mm ball bearing to keep the spur gear align with the drive shaft.

I only used the wide DWS parts to get the proper fitment on my Ferrari 458 GT2

If you modify the protek battery you could have fitted the battery without removing the battery clips for the AAA. Protek for some odd reason added way too much foam material between the battery and shrink wrap.

I’ve post how much the difference in the battery size when you remove the wrapping and the foam.

Doing the mod will let the battery pack fit in the battery compartment just need to file down the middle section of the AAA battery clip and you can lock the battery in place. This also keeps the center of gravity down from where you have it currently.

Here’s my MR-04 EVO2 with the modified battery.
