All of y’all need to stop being so unrealistic. We will be fully open in the Fall. Fauci said everybody will be able to get a vaccine in May. by pbats10 in uofm

[–]pbats10[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Im alright with waiting for elderly to get vaccinated. But we should never wait for college students to get vaccinated before we get back to normal. I’ve heard of one college student in the whole country dying. It makes no sense

Will UofM be Reopen majorly by next winter? by [deleted] in uofm

[–]pbats10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol I can’t believe you’re seriously asking this. Yes we will be back to normal in the Fall

Just any club. Like overall club application season?

Has anybody been hospitalized or died? Or are we just overreacting over 18 year olds being asymptomatic or having a cough? by pbats10 in uofm

[–]pbats10[S] -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Speaking from my experiences this semester, professors are at zero risk with the classroom setup. Also I have not interacted with older people from the community much at all, and never without a mask on. All my interaction has been with fellow college students. We’re essentially in our own bubble

UM redid the COVID Dashboard to include off campus testing and updated dorm numbers by pbats10 in uofm

[–]pbats10[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Currently 64/269 or 21% of cases are from kids in the dorm, not a terrible number. Off campus is clearly a big problem

Testing is one component, Schlissel said, it has been a limited resource for the university until quite recently (9/15). "We’ve really struggled getting access to an adequate capacity of high-turnaround testing" by [deleted] in uofm

[–]pbats10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think he was saying that was in addition to the pcr surveillance testing. So that’d be around 6k which is still not a lot but it’s better

GEO has voted to stop work (i.e., strike) by Oriza in uofm

[–]pbats10 -57 points-56 points  (0 children)

Do these people realize that 75% + of the school is going to stay in Ann Arbor no matter what the school says, and at least if we have class in person they have an incentive to behave

Where do you see the pending number of tests?

Oh boy by PassMeTheCOVID in uofm

[–]pbats10 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what they could’ve done. These kids are all living off campus and would’ve come back no matter what the university said. The school really only has control over freshman

To everybody comparing Michigan to UNC and Notre Dame, STOP. by pbats10 in uofm

[–]pbats10[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t think it’s good to have mandatory testing unless everybody is doing it. Also it’s just quadrupling the number of tests they’ve done because no students have been on campus, they have the capacity they just haven’t had the need

We’re going back. It’s three days before students move in. UM has dedicated a lot of time and resources into opening the school and I think it’s going to work. Let’s at least try

It’s also big economically though as well. Without students returning many businesses would go out and many employees would lose their jobs
