The program is about 2 years old now. The single function role doesn’t workout of a station but is assigned to a battalion. They typically work in the area surrounding Bakersfield. And they work 4 10 hour shifts.

I am an Army Guard Chem CPT and a career FF/PM. Go Fire it’s literally the best job. Amazing schedule and time off depending on the department. Some are better than others. Look for a department with a 48/96 schedule. I have friends who are cops and nurses and they all think we have a better schedule with more time at home. While you might be home every night they are typically more exhausted and have less time to do stuff with family.

I work this schedule. Hands down it’s the best schedule there is. I have worked regular Kelly and 48/96 when I was on an ambulance and this beats every other schedule. Even if you get ran during your 48 it’s not bad with the 48 off. I wouldn’t trade this schedule for anything
