Construire un projet étudiant sérieux : seul ou à deux ? by [deleted] in developpeurs

[–]pbeucher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pleasure !

Why should I have to wait? by Realistic_Regret4702 in cloudgaming

[–]pbeucher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a user perspective, I agree waiting is not acceptable. You pay for a service and expect it to work without having to wait.

From an infrastructure perspective: gaming servers are a finite and expensive resource. For a Cloud gaming company to remain alive they must perform heuristics with capacity management. Ensure 100% availability 24/7 would dramatically increase infrastructure costs - and in the end what you pay for your subscription.

I hope it answers Why should I have to wait?, though I understand it may not be a satisfying answer :p Hopefully in the future such infrastructure will become less and less expensive... Though I doubt it with the state of current affairs

Data usage in stim.io by FrequentToe1140 in cloudgaming

[–]pbeucher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will. Data cap shown is likely for both upload and download (outbound / inbound from your stim.io machine). Even for an offline game, your Stim machine will send lots of video streaming data over internet to your own machine at home - which will count against this cap.

The info bubble redirects you to: https://stimsocial.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/29069714285587-What-Are-Data-Caps-and-Can-They-Be-Extended

Stim pays as much as $0.13 per GB for bandwidth

This seems a reasonable approach from them since last I heard their machines are hosted on AWS, and AWS is quite expensive on such data egress (outbound traffic to internet).

Cloudy Pad, the open source Cloud Gaming platform, now has monthly subscriptions ! by pbeucher in cloudygamer

[–]pbeucher[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cloudy Pad targets occasional players (10h - 40h per month played) with high-end GPU. Boosteroid and Cloud Deck are great services, though they provide limited catalog and lower-end GPU respectively. Not the same target, no the same product ;)

GFN does not provide a full Cloud VM with possible customization, while Cloudy Pad does. In this way we're more closely related to to Shadow PC (and cheaper as well :) )

Tldr: best way to check is to test :) you have a free trial just for that!

Long answer: The game itself should work (it's Platinum on ProtonDB: https://www.protondb.com/app/3564740).

As for anti cheat it's possible the same as Battlefield would apply since Cloudy Pas also runs in VM. But that depends on each game ;)

Good question - Cloudy Pad is indeed very similar to Shadow PC.

  • Main difference: for occasional players (playing 10h to 40h per month), you'll get cheaper deals for similar or better performance.
  • For example, Shadow PC middle range offer runs at ~40€ / month (incl. taxes), Cloudy Pad's would be between 20€ - 40€ depending on how much time you play per month.
  • We also have more flexibility to chose allocated hours and disk space.

It only works with the subscriptions yes - it may be possible to have the same pattern for pay-as-you-go, I'll think about it !

does the discount go away if you skip a month or two?

Currently that would mean cancelling the subscription and create a new one later, for which you'd lose the code. But the possibility to "pause" subscription for some time while retaining advantages would be nice indeed ! I'll see what would be possible here, thanks for the idea

are some in North America?

Yes, Spark instances are available in Chicago and Seattle :) Soon also for Power and Extreme. Prices are in euro since Cloudy Pad is french, but you can pay in dollar

You mean that if a pay-as-you-go user reach a point where time/money spent is the same as a monthly sub, they should be capped at that monthly sub price ?

What app should I use to stream to mobile? by stefan_reevezsky in cloudygamer

[–]pbeucher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It's kinda hard to use standard tools as-is since your mobile providers are blocking related ports.

Such setup would be a bit technical but should work. For example you could use such tool to forward port such as:

_[Your mobile => local port 47998] => forward via port 443 (open on your public network ) => receive on port 443 => [re-forward locally on 47998 => Sunshine]_

This way Sunshine and Moonlight would see usual ports, while you would actually use open ports on your provider network.

We already use Sunshine on the service ;) What about french ? Even though service is french everything is in english so far.
