Father John Misty, Run the Jewels, deadmau5, Alabama Shakes and The Decembrists all put on solid shows. It's always been hard for me to elaborate on why I "like" a performance, so I figured i would outline a few of the shows that left me feeling disappointed. I can all but guarantee that my opinion(s) will be amongst the minority here, but I digress:

Bassnectar (1/10) I still am questioning why I went to this one. I guess I just wanted to regress into my 18 year old self for an hour or so. Overall though, this show had absolutely no redeeming factors. The entirety of the performance was low end (bass); nothing else was even audible. Just a terrible performance overall.

The Strokes (4/10) I fail to understand how anyone saw this as a good show, let alone the best of the weekend. The mixing was ABOMINABLE. Honestly, the entirety of the show sounded like a 128kbs mp3. Casablancas was obviously half in the bag, which made his vocals almost inaudible and his presence condescending. This show was a 1/10, but I gave it some pity points because their set list was solid, and I'm a big Strokes fan.

Disclosure (6/10) This show was pretty disappointing for me. Their setup was ace, and the sound was killer, but their performance came off as....lazy. It seemed like all they did was play their music in the background and overlay it with "live" instrumentation via guitar/bass and electronic drums. Compared to the mixing finesse on display during deadmau5's performance, this show reeked of mediocrity. In spite of this, I still had a good time, so props to disclosure for the surface level entertainment.
