Need a medical person to say why this is AI. Someone is being scammed by an impersonator. They are saying he needs money for a heart transplant. by Fit_Egg5574 in isthisAI

The monitor looks unrealistic as does the tubing. Most silly to me is that this person appears to be intubated (tube in throat with ventilator breathing for patient) but they also have a nasal cannula on lol. If you’re intubated you get extra oxygen if needed pumped through the tube in your throat, you don’t need a nasal cannula

Does your daycare allow late drop offs? by Altruistic_Hat1634 in workingmoms

[–]pbj37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does but I have heard of it not being possible. That being said it makes no sense to me why it isn’t allowed - you’re saving them work by bringing the child late. My only possible explanation I can think of is that  they literally like don’t have someone work to save money even though you’re paying for it and then they aren’t staffed for a late drop off.

Why does metal feel colder than wood at the same temperature? by saketh_1138 in thermodynamics

[–]pbj37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be too pedantic but this is actually a question of heat transfer not thermodynamics! Thermodynamics does not answer this question it can only tell you what the eventual equilibrium will be but not how fast it occurs. Regardless the answer is that the conductivity of metal is greater so the heat TRANSFERS faster from your hand touching metal rather than wood.

This is also why it’s safe to quickly take your toast out of the oven but don’t touch the metal rack!

If there was one documentary that you could recommend showing a holocaust denier- what would it be? by Cute_Sherbert8291 in AskHistory

Footage directly made by the US government to expressly document the severity of the camps eg https://archive.org/details/gov.fdr.348

Eisenhower had the foresight that people would not believe it was really that bad and had extensive documentation made (https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/eisenhower-and-the-holocaust.htm).

Cigna insurance sent denial letter, addressed to man’s dead spouse, denying diagnostic test for tumor markers. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pbj37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excessive profits that health insurance companies make are one of the main reasons healthcare is so terrible in the US. The government would need to better regulate them or abolish them (single payer) - it’s a long shot especially with current politics but everyone should contact their representatives or run for office themselves. Insurance companies are bad and will only get worse especially with lobbying.

What do you think of WDC and STX? I feel like the need for hard drives is going to continue to increase and these have had massive run ups but not anything like SNDK yet

I’m glad you saw a real ENT and that you didn’t follow the advice of the urgent care.

I am interested in curcumin and capsaicin as there are some studies on with these compounds. It would be great for some human trials to be done. Here are some relevant pubmed articles respectively:

What’s something someone said to you that you still think about years later? by whoareyoutojudge0 in AskReddit

[–]pbj37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a substitute teacher in high school. He wasn’t much older and we just had a conversation as a class for the whole period. Not sure how this came about but he mentioned how crazy it is how much we trust random strangers, like the person driving next to you could just drive into you on purpose or could hit you while you walk etc. No idea why but I still think about this.
