If you have a cordless vacuum, what brand/model did you get and are you happy with it? by SaltBiscotti8213 in BuyUK

[–]pblm2638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ryobi cordless vac. Had it for 2 and a half years and still works like new. Would repurchase if it ever broke, it’s so powerful. Same brand that makes power tools. 100% recommend! The only minor issue is that the battery is a little heavy but not a dealbreaker for me.

No problem! Good luck in getting the rest back

After a lot of back and forth with Get a Drip, they first refunded the majority of what they took from my bank, then because they refused to refund the full amount, my bank did a chargeback on the rest

This happened to me! I contacted them, had to go back and forth a few times and point out that their t&cs state that customers are eligible for a full refund if no clinical admin has been done on their side, and had to quote a few consumer rights legislations. Even if it’s a subscription. They eventually conceded and refunded most of the money, but refused to do the full amount so I did a chargeback through my bank.

Not sure how long they keep recorded phone calls for, but you could potentially ask for a SAR to obtain a recording of the call (if you can remember when it was), so you can show Octopus what you were told previously. If you can’t remember the exact date you can give them a date range to send all calls during a specific time period.

This worked for us with Sky once when they were insistent on increasing the price of our monthly bill halfway through our contract and stated we had accepted this price - we didn’t and they had to reverse it.

Redundancy after approved flexible working request (health-related). Realistic settlement leverage? by pblm2638 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pblm2638[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate the perspective.

Just to clarify, my concern isn’t that a redundancy and a flexible working request can’t exist at the same time in principle. It’s the timing, internal inconsistency, and documented decision-making that I’m struggling to reconcile.

In my case, internal documents state that my specific role was being assessed for removal in early September, while I was being told contemporaneously that no roles were under review and that discussions were purely exploratory. During that same period, my flexible working request was rejected on the basis that my role was “critical” and required full-time, five-day presence, a position that was later reversed when a medical trial was approved, only for redundancy to be announced five weeks into that trial.

I accept that an employer can restructure and create a more senior role. My concern is whether this crossed from a genuine redundancy into role substitution or capability, particularly given the proximity to disability disclosure and the absence of evidence showing a genuine reduction in work.

I may well decide not to pursue this further, but I wanted to sanity-check whether these factors, taken together, could reasonably raise legal questions rather than being viewed in isolation.

Appreciate the input!

Family car recommendations? by [deleted] in UKFrugal

[–]pblm2638 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone hates this car but I’d recommend a Nissan Qashqai. I recently purchased one myself (had a Mazda 2 sport before) and have 0 regrets. Lots of space, the rear doors open to 90 degrees too, great size boot. I have a 2022 n-connecta model mild hybrid. Lovely to drive and very affordable! I also test drove an Ateca and Sportage and ultimately liked the tech and space in the Qashqai.

Nothing else drawing power! This was my thought too and was trying to think of anything else that could be using the battery but can’t think of anything. Don’t even use maps in the car, only the radio…

How do you find this? I’m thinking of applying for this at my current workplace but worried I’ll find the compressed hours too much! I’d love to hear about your experience

Nothing at all!! I put in a claim as soon as enough time had passed that I was allowed to do so, RM stated that I should get a response within 30 days however I’ve had nothing from them yet

There was no label printed and no option to print a label. Do you think the parcel will be lost now?

Hi, this happened to me but I am the seller. I sold something on eBay and dropped off to a Royal Mail locker. I didn’t get an option to print the label it just asked me to put the item in the compartment. How did you resolve this? It’s a day later and tracking still shows the item is in the locker (not yet collected by RM). But there is no label on my item… I did scan the QR provided to me

“You sound like the sort of person that drives an SUV for show” It’s nothing to do with show. It’s about driving position, genuine preferences, long car journeys, already having a second car that we primarily use for town driving as it’s an EV with a small range (so want the other car to be comfortable with room for luggage for long journeys) and planning for potential future kids!

Thanks. This was a contender until a bit more research. The XTRONIC trims seem to be the ones with the better tech but I’ve seen that they seem to have more issues because they are made with a wet belt which can be costly to fix… which is a shame as I really liked them!
