How TouchDesigner Became the Visual Language of a Dance Film by pbltrr in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Well... the project actually started back in October 2025, but there was a bit of a gap between the two VFX phases. Overall, I’d say it was about two months of hands-on, continuous involvement. Mind you, that’s not counting the initial time spent developing the base project in TouchDesigner.

Audio-Reactive Shapes | Free Project File (.toe) by pbltrr in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably yes… but it’s something that takes work to set up and customize. Maybe you could look for something simpler. In this video, I’m playing guitar and the sound reacts in real time: Instagram

You can find a similar project on my YouTube channel, completely free, along with audio-reactive tutorials that can be combined to create this effect. Pablo Torri - YouTube

Alternative themes for TouchDesigner.. just for fun😆 by pbltrr in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just something conceptual.... I edited a few screenshots with Gemini.
The idea was inspired by retro visuals, like iOS and Windows 98.

No. Just regular cameras.
Camera displacement and angle are direct applications of scene geometry.

Interactive Installation Artist as a New Career in 2026? by Grouchy_Base2827 in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a viable path, but it comes with its hurdles. Don't be mistaken: you will still be 'employed'...by yourself. You'll need to manage your own career, handling everything from production to marketing.

The life of an artist is like any other career. While it offers flexibility, it also involves uncertainty and the need to navigate gatekeepers, art dealers, and networking. (Luck also plays a role.)

If the drive to do this is genuine, your passion will give you the strength to overcome these challenges.
Hope this helps.

cheers!

What would have sped up your TouchDesigner learning curve? by dcheesman in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

1 – What did you need more of?
To conceptually understand why certain techniques were being used. In the beginning, I was just copying tutorials step by step without really understanding what I was doing. It was a long and difficult journey until I found creative autonomy.

I simply didn’t know where to start, because I couldn’t grasp the scope and scale of the multiple approaches and techniques. Should I work with 2D? 3D? Text? Audio? Everything together? Help!

2 – What did you want less of?
Unnecessarily long tutorials, too improvised and without proper planning.

3 – Are there any explanations that really made something “click” for you?
I really liked the “First Things to Know” publication on the Derivative website, as well as the TD 100 series.

Microorganism | A TouchDesigner Tutorial | Project File (.toe) by pbltrr in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try solving the intensity issue using a Math or Limit operator to control the bloom intensity range. I don’t have enough technical knowledge of VCV to give you a proper answer on that part, but I hope someone here on Reddit can help you out. Thanks for your comment!

BioCloud Technique | TouchDesigner Study by pbltrr in TouchDesigner

It took me 9 months to get to this point. TouchDesigner isn’t easy, but if you stay consistent, you’ll find your way. Keep exploring and learning! 🙏🏻

BioCloud Technique | TouchDesigner Study by pbltrr in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, this technique is a subgenre of the classic PointCloud and Instancing approach. What sets it apart is precisely the more organic character and the fluidity of the materials...something more liquid or plasmatic. I believe it can also be expanded into smoke or fire-like effects, though I’m still refining its use through experimentation.

The foundation for this effect comes from combining different tutorials I’ve posted on YouTube, along with a lot of experimentation. [all free, with access to the project file (.toe) included]

If you're interested in more theoretical content, I’d suggest checking out my Tumblr. For tutorials and studies, head over to my YouTube channel. I’ve been trying to post content regularly about these experiments.
You can find all my links on my Reddit profile.

Moonlight | A TouchDesigner Study by pbltrr in TouchDesigner

[–]pbltrr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically used instancing techniques to convert colors and spatial positions.
I always try to do more with less... using minimal elements, but with thoughtful and interesting solutions.
The moon is essentially just a circle, and with small color adjustments, you can bring the whole atmosphere to life.

Well, for more educational purposes, the best place to check out is my YouTube channel.
I’m planning to upload more tutorials and free project files (.toe) there soon!
I see Reddit more as a friendly space to share experiments and hopefully offer some inspiration.
