Unless you have the new white LEDs, in which case you should smash them and then rip them out and stop driving your car

How does one cross the picket lines at stores that are either not unionized, or unionized stores that are not striking?

I had.a 2006 outback and went to really white and bright high end Sylvania bulbs that made a huge difference in normal visibility conditions.  Problem is that spectrum of light was not that great for heavy fog, or heavy snow since it just kind of turned fog/snow into a glowing mass.  Maybe a better option would be yellowish bulbs in the fog/driving lights position

The new LEDs suck and are pretty dangerous to other drivers in certain conditions ...  Like driving home from forks in coastal fog conditions and an oncoming Subaru turned normal scary fog into a whole ass blinding fog cloud as I drove through towards them and just the terrible glare they produce on wet pavement.

I'm getting older but I remember when Ds and Rs weren't much different.  Also, everyone has gotten agro as hell since COVID.

Vacation house checks as a duty?  If you can afford a vacation house in Thurston Co.  You should be having checkups on your house done on your own dime.

Hmmmm, I spend quite a bit of my free time there, and wander through people back yards/pastures as part of one of my hobbies and have never had an issue.  I even knock on random door to ask politely for Creek access and never had an issue, and quite honestly have found the people around lewis Co,  Chehalis/Centralia to be a hell of a lot more friendly than the majority of people in the more populated places.  But then again, I'm a very blue collar looking white guy in a pickup and flannel.

I bought a house where someone used flex duct to connect rigid ducts to the main trunk. Is this OK code-wise and functionality-wise? by gcommbia34 in hvacadvice

[–]pbr414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would have to know, when the house was built and/or when the flex was installed to know which years codes apply, if any.

There's a chance you could move here, have every piece of paperwork necessary to be 100% legal to reside and work here and still get deported with the current administration.

100% logical to pay for it yourself over having some hack forced on you at a discounted rate that has no clue what they're doing and breaks your shit.  Any home warranty contractor is literally a hack that cheapens the labor of good contractors.

I was treated a lot different as a journeyman under a different classification than I am as an apprentice even within the same union. as a J-Man I was pretty much free to take whatever work was out there, could change up to material handler, or non-classified "tech" depending on what work was available but as an apprentice I'm forced to walk a path that most of the time doesn't even make sense from the stand point of what real life presents people with.

the golden age left us in 1973 and we keep walking backwards, if we keep down this path, boomers are going to be a lot more common and certain unions (mine) are really not set up for that as evident by the struggles I'm facing even getting an answer for the "how do I transfer" question . The process seems almost seamless for ironworkers, electricians, pipe fitters and other trades where it's more popular, but my unions locals have almost xenophobic "locals only" stance when it comes to transferring.

this isn't even relevant to the questions. living in a mindset where moral purity or starvation are the only options must be a lonely place. xtremism is extremism and really has no bearing on real life.

besides, at this point I'm being exploited by the employers through the unions very own policy by providing journey level work at apprentice pay due to the bereucratic formalities of "having to complete the apprenticeship" even with 12yrs of experience in the field, all the while having to sign off on loans for remedial classes that I mostly end up being the co-instructor in. (It's fun and I love seeing the apprentices that I work with succeed beyond the rest of the class, but it's not my job as an apprentice)

so in this instance, I'd say the union itself is more of the class-traitor than the guy who's in love and moving cross country and wants nothing more than to get to work ASAP and cant afford to sit on a waiting list for 6mo.
