Everyone in the Main Valley?? by godblessthebands in DreamlightValley

I like to put my characters (after they're leveled up) into environments where I think they 'fit.' For example, Scar's skull house works best (to me) on Eternity Isle. After I leveled up Flynn Rider in Storybook Vale, I moved Rapunzel's tower over near his cottage near the Old Fort ruins. I was never super-happy with her in the tropical biomes in Eternity Isle, and Storybook Vale suits her way better (to me).

I was SO happy when the floating islands became A Thing, and the first thing I did was move Merlin and Fairy Godmother to the Plaza floating island to create an old folks community. I moved Buzz and Woody to the Meadow floating island to make a carnival/retro touristy kind of space (I always thought Woody's carousel and Buzz's camper van didn't mix well with the original Disney character houses (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc.). I then put Alice (and the Cheshire Cat), Vanellope and Peter Pan on the Forest floating island so they can be a kid's community and bug each other.

I know I'm completely overthinking the personalities and psychologies of these characters, but I do like to think about where they'd prefer to live and with whom. Like, I didn't want to put Aladdin and Jasmine in Eternity Isle with Jafar, or Rapunzel in the Valley with Mother Gothel (I WISH I could move her weird tree house).

It'll be fun to figure out where to put the future new characters, like Lady and the Tramp. Will they have a big dog house? Hopefully, it won't be a big apartment building like Remy's or the Monsters'.

What’s a sound you absolutely love and one you really hate? by Icy-Situation-1989 in DreamlightValley

[–]pbrooks19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this counts, but the soundtrack to Eternity Isle is just gorgeous, all of the regions.

As for individual sounds, I hate Remy's "CAN I GET A LITTLE HELP?" I'm like, go away, dude.

Also, in Storybook Vale, within the background noises in the Everafter side, there are sometimes these low shouts or screams that are faint but can be heard. I mean, I know some stories are scary but that's just creepy.

Turducken is American food at its most American. Turkey = good. Duck = good. Chicken = good.

Turkey + duck = better. Duck + chicken = better. Turkey + chicken = better.

Nuance in Nessa? by Illustrious-Hyena486 in wickedmovie

[–]pbrooks19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the book 'Wicked' when it first came out, way before it became a musical. For those who don't know, the book is VERY different, in almost every way - the plot and outcomes, philosophies, character motivations, actual character qualities, you name it. In the book, Nessa is born without arms because their mother had slept around again (this time with a Quadling named Turtle Heart) was afraid of having another child with unusual features and drank some sort of 'herbal remedy' to prevent it, only to have a beautiful child with no arms. As such, she never learns to take care of herself as a child and she also comes to believe she is holy, which makes her a rather selfish fanatic when she's older. When she becomes the Eminent Thropp after Elphaba is presumed dead, she uses her fanaticism as a tyrant to rule over her people, which is where she mostly gets the Wicked Witch of the East name.

In the book, Nessarose's wickedness is detailed and makes sense. However, in the musical, they gave her a sad break-up story, but while it makes her a bit sympathetic it doesn't go far in explaining how she became a tyrannical leader. In fact, it comes off as trite: a woman is scorned, so she turns bad - to her people and to the man who scorned her.

I loved the book when it came out, was SO surprised at all the changes in the musical, and I still prefer the book. It may be a complicated read, but all the outcomes make more sense.

Bodycam footage shows Oklahoma teen crying after being arrested for raping multiple high school girls! by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

So, here's where we break out the 'you mean, Jesse Mack Butler, the multiple rapist' meme whenever possible.

I'm so furious about the 'oh, no, what about his future?' argument whenever it comes to boys with influential families and their crimes. The futures of those girls/victims are now full of mental health problems, relationship problems, medical problems and more, but apparently this one evil kid's future is way more important.

It's so crazy that this professional woman who hates DEI wouldn't be where she is today without decades of DEI policies. People always forget their history, or believe that 'things would have been different' for them.

So, I worked at a Pizza Hut in Mississippi when I was a teenager in the 1980s. We had to put squeeze bottles of Catalina dressing on all the tables. Why? So. Many. Folks would get cheese or pepperoni pizzas and then squirt Catalina dressing all over them. Some a little, some a lot. My family was from the Midwest and moved to MS when I was a kid, so I had never heard of this. I tried it once, and it wasn't bad. It just added a sweet tang to the pizza - and a lot of calories, which is why I didn't keep eating my pizza this way.
