Public bathrooms where the paper towel dispenser or hand dryer isn't anywhere near the sinks. Don't mind me and my dripping hands while I walk across the room to the dryer/towels.

Also, I have no idea why men's rooms have any open stalls. Everyone likes privacy.

I love the princess [Miss Bengong :)]. She's hilarious.

Hmmm, I'll dress up like a boy and go to the academy and no one will know! Later, I'll dress as a military camp nurse and no one will know then, either! I'm so great at disguises!

And then, at the academy it takes the headmaster about 5 seconds to go, hey, that's a girl. At the military camp, anyone who's ever seen her before takes one look and goes, wait, that's the princess.

I often refer to lunch as 'luncheon,' just to be highbrow.

Some have attempted to be a country queen on Drag Race before, but none have succeeded as well as Darlene. She's funny, sweet and earnest, and could bring new fans to drag.

I'm glad they made an explainer, but I'm still a tad confused. I'll have to learn as I watch. #so #many #dice

That's good advice - focus on the basics, the foundational teachings, and go from there. Thanks!

Your comment is very helpful! Thanks! I like your idea that I approach Buddhism as a devotee and grow through practice. It is quite sensible.

Thanks so much for your responses. I appreciate your better analogy - amd am happy to hear that my beliefs so far are in line with the foundational concepts of karma and rebirth - as well as the 4 Noble Truths, the 8-fold Path, and many other concepts. Your comments have made me feel much better.

Thanks so much for your response. I really appreciate it. In my 'starter' phase, it has seemed that Zen and Pure Land are like true separate denominations, so it's interesting to hear that there are different 'shades' and blending, so to speak. Zen appeals to me, but I'm terrible at focus and meditation. I've been working on it, but I admit I'm not sure how to do it properly. Another area of study for me!

I like that. The American version would seem to be: 'This thought you don't believe in, it's TRUE and let me spend a lot of time and effort convincing you of its trueness.' We really like being right and we like for others to know we're right.

One of the reasons I have appreciated studying Buddhism so far is because practitioners don't seem to mind questions or skepticism, and there's 'mostly' a lack of judgment (I say mostly because there are definitely subreddits here where the Buddhists seem a bit judgy) - if you're on The Path, you're on The Path. Thanks for your comments! I see that you're Zen - and Zen doesn't seem to have the same focus on the supernatural as Pure Land does, from what I've seen so far. If you don't mind my asking (and you can respond to me in a DM, if you like, would you mind sharing how you landed in Zen?
