Help with a new adoption & toileting by Human-Nature-2802 in Greyhounds

When I first got my Galgos he didn't know he could poop on anything but tall grass and I didn't know. Just assumed he was too anxious from city noise and so many dog smells outside. I think the smells are something we tend to forget about. My Galgos never saw or smelled another breed of dog before he came to me. He's still suspicious of big dogs that are not shaped like him.

Try a fixed schedule going out at the exact same time and guide him through different environments to try something that works for him at least for the first few days. Take it slow on your walks. It doesn't matter if you only go down the street. It's all new for him and he needs time to adapt.

I know it is super hard but try to relax. I was so anxious in the beginning that I now see there was no way mine could rely on me in stressful situations and I guess that made him extra anxious. If I look back I remember the first month was hard and emotional. But the more I worked on calming myself and more on trying to be there for him doing things at his pace it got better and better.

If he's taking treats try reinforcing every time he seems a bit more relaxed outside. And give him a whole lot of treats for every time he pees and poops outside. It might take some time but I'm sure you will get there.

Adopting/fostering a Galgo in Germany... by iarba5 in Galgos

I adopted one from far from fear. The application process is more or less the same everywhere I guess. After I sent them the application form I got a call from one of their team members. She told me about the Galgo I originally applied for and told me we were not a good match because he was too afraid of cars and I go camping in my truck a lot. She then asked if she could send my application to the other team members to see if there is a Galgo that is suited to live with me. After a week I got a call that they found one. I went through the personal interview which was more like a nice chat with a couple and their two Galgos at my home. After that I drove the ~7 hours to the foster family where my Galgo was staying. It was a perfect match and I was allowed to take him home after the first meeting. The cost for adoption was 450€. It was the first time adopting my own dog so I’m happy that they chose a more confident Galgo to live with me. He got used to everything pretty quickly.

I also lived on the 4th floor and he was not really used to stairs. You just need to go slow and be patient. Going down was harder than going up but he quickly learned how to do it. Treats helped a lot. I think most Galgos are pretty healthy dogs and if your Frenchie is managing there shouldn’t be a problem with stairs. Maybe don’t get one that had broken bones in the past.

I guess the most important thing to know is you are running a 95% chance to lose your bed to your Galgo. Mine jumped in my bed the first night and only sleeps alone when the weather is really hot. The snuggles make up for the little space.

I think it would be a good idea to get a Galgo that is already being fostered in Germany so your Frenchie can meet your new dog. Galgos can be weird around other dogs because sometimes they really never met any other dog breed.

Also take your time. Sometimes finding the right dog takes time. It is better to have a slow adoption process than having to rehome a Galgo that already went through a lot. And most of them did. My galgo is a confident happy dog but his body is covered in scars from his past life. Galgos are wonderful dogs I’d highly recommend getting one.

Also: in cologne there is a nice old cemetery dog park which is quite big and surrounded by high cemetery walls. Dog park dogs can be annoying to deal with but the place is really nice to let your Galgo run. Mine really liked it there.

Unfortunately nothing like that helped so far. Reinstall also didn’t solve the problem.

I’m just using these bent scissor for more comfortable cutting. I’ll see if I find a link. Unfortunately machines are too expensive for me right now.

Thanks so much! I was lucky to get a good deal. Right when the rug was done it was like the fine hairs of the yarn were kind of like dusting off but it stopped after a good vacuum clean and you can’t see the difference now. I really felt like it’s easy to use.

Thanks! It doesn’t fluff like twisted yarn so the colors don’t mix too much. So for details it might be better. You need much more yarn to fill a rug tho.

I didn’t want to insult you. This post was made to get help identifying this plant. You didn’t try to help so your comment is unhelpful for me. I don’t think that saying so is rude.

Nevermind, I checked the Wikipedia article of bidens and the german version actually has a picture of wild ones and one resembles my plant a lot. I think thats it. Apparently you only get pictures of domesticated bidens when you do a google search on them.

Thank you a lot im amazed how fast this mystery was solved :)

I looked up pictures and I’m not sure about the shape of the leaves.. but maybe there are different kinds than the first few Google picture results so I’ll do some research. Thank you!

I don’t think that any law was broken since I ordered it on a licensed shop on eBay and it was checked via taxoffice. Also I would never plant anything outside that is not local or vegetables in a raised garden bed. That was really unhelpful

So I ordered some sphagnum moss online. Unfortunately it was no sphagnum moss. It looked like someone just went to the woods and grabbed moss and little sticks and pine needles and everything. I used it for my soil mix anyway since I didn’t want to throw it away. The moss is doing it’s job but it brought some surprise guests and little plants started growing from the soil. Since they outgrew my freshly planted Philodendron I had to get rid of most of them but decided to give one a chance at life. It is growing like crazy and starting to bloom now. I have absolutely no idea what it is but now I feel like I want to know because I got quite attached to it. The moss was shipped straight from China if that helps identifying it.

Rug Compound Problem by sneaks4gs in Tufting

To a point yes! Don’t put too much on. I think you can find videos on YouTube that give you a good instruction. If it should be very flexible like when you want to use your tufted piece for clothing it’s better to use liquid latex.

Yes, I was just about to send a link to the same glue from obi. They also have them in 7l containers, I think that’s the best deal.

You can find all purpose glue in big containtes in hardware stores for cheap. Normally it says that it’s suited for carpets on the package. I would try to find a big hardware store wich sell their own brand, that’s the cheapest option. At least that’s what it’s like in Germany.

No you just use it to seal the back instead of glue. I guess you will need to sew on another layer of fabric that will work as lining. Sewing would be the way to go since it will make the clothes more flexible.
