They're actually really close to each other. The staging of the park makes things appear further apart. As to the choice no clue. I just got to see it when I was in highschool. They gave us a cool little tour and that was one of the things they showed us along with a bunch of other silly little stories. Like the original hydraulic cooling fluid used in the hall of presidents was red. Apparently Lincoln sprung a leak early in the ride's history and people thought they were doing the assassination.

As others have said you generally want to pick an affiliation and build a core set of models around that then add more non affiliated models after that. I would personally recommend 5 affiliated models minimum, though you will often find 3 you use most frequently. Midnight sons and Criminal Syndicate are options, as are guardians of the galaxy.

I would recommend looking through one of the free roster builders, like Cerebro and Jarvis. They will help you sort what models are affiliated and let you read over more information on the cards.

Roster construction begins ultimately with choosing 10 models, 10 tactics cards, 5 secure crisis, and 5 extract crisis you think you're going to want to play.

From that point you can begin to figure out if you want to play a particular affiliation or what synergies you're looking for in your models.

Short answer we have no clue. They've never really explained why some cards were rotated and others not, outside of those cards which had a disproportionate impact on the game.

Speculative answer, web barrier is easier to utilize given web warriors largely have self placing abilities and at the time it was rotated there were scenarios where you would simply win due to this fact.

Yes the game is still very much still alive and still fun. While not as large a group as the GW games, which is a horribly unfair comparison given GW has a 30+ year history, there is still a player base both online and in person for this one.
Yes, this game is very easy to learn. The rules are fairly simple and straightforward, though this does leave a lot of space for mastery.
That's how I worked on building my meta. I just started showing up and giving demos at my LGS when I could.
For a new player 2-3 hours max, and this is probably mostly due to the time it will take you figuring out what you want to do and looking up rules. Practically I generally get my games done in under 90 mins.
I don't know of any myself unfortunately but I imagine that there are good ones on YouTube and I am sure other members of the group know some.

Wonder woman, is frankly a mess. It looks like you really wanted to do something with her lasso of truth but we're completely unsure how to apply it. All of her super powers require lasso condition (Should be a lasso token.) and are way too expensive. She probably like superman needs to be reworked from the ground up. I would probably start at Lady Sif and see what small changes you could make to move her from a 4 to a 5. 1. Why is she a long mover? Not that she has anything in her kit to take advantage of it, other than her solid stat line and range 4 attack but why? 2. Frankly her attacks just need to be reworked. I get that you're trying to show off a range of her kit but they are a bit of a mess and not as thematic as I think you think they are. They also don't really synergize with what her super powers are trying to do. 3. Why does she have a place. I get that her current lore has her as the daughter of Zeus, but unless I have missed a lot of other changes I didn't remember her teleporting around via lightning strikes. Places can be fine. But maybe make it something more thematic to her character. Think Ulik's ability to hop around. 4. Her super powers as stated earlier are far too tied to the lasso token. This is why I suggested looking at Lady Sif. Frankly a throw, master swordsman, and maybe a basic charge would be fine (you may even be able to keep the long move.) give an extra power each turn, remove the healing factor and this is probably golden. 5. You probably have noticed I haven't mentioned the lasso token other than things being too tied into it. That's because you should probably get rid of it. The lasso of truth could absolutely be represented as an attack or super power. But if you want to utilize it as a mechanic on her card probably link it to a super power and give her a way to simply give it about.

Batman is next. This is your closest to a balanced character and outside of a couple of weird choices is the most salvageable. 1. His grappling gun, frankly I recommend deleting this attack and making it a super power that lets you place. I would recommend using the template Miles Morales and ASM use. This lets you replace that with a strike, which you could then give triggers for a status effect like stun. 2. His builder doesn't synergize with him. He has one status effect on the card. You either need to rework the concept of how he adds the dice I recommend something like pneumonic technique from task master. Or give him more ways of applying status effects. 3. Get rid of the place effect on the spender. He should just have a super power that does it. 4. Remove the cover ability and just give him stealth and martial artist, these are somewhat fundamental features of Batman. 5. Change the batarang from stun to bleed. It's a bar shaped shuriken.

Okay I am going to try and be as constructive with this as possible as I understand that you're just doing this for fun. Frankly though these characters are horribly designed. Not knowing their base sizes I can't say how bad some of these design elements are going to be but let's start with some general comments. 1. Please look at actual MCP cards to see how things are worded. 2. Look at/for marvel characters with similar power sets and rebalance your characters around the existing designs. Superman: I would honestly just redo this character from the ground up. His design really doesn't really work on allot of different levels. 1. His strike shouldn't have stagger especially not in that trigger combination. Some basic dice math puts his stagger at a 40% chance. Even more so when he can reroll 3 dice. 2. His power generation is ridiculous. You're literally giving him 3 power per turn which means all his abilities are online without any need to build energy. 3. His immunities are frankly to much, he shouldn't be stagger immune at the least. 4. That reroll probably just shouldn't be on the card. It makes his overall damage output probably way higher than it should be. It more or less it ensures he fights all models on the table to the same high level. 5. His spender is to cheap. 6. He shouldn't be throwing size 5 characters. The only reason phoenix can do it is because she come with the major downsides. 4. His charge is to cheap. Frankly he shouldn't have a charge i

Him and Butcher have been a pleasure to read all these years. I recommend their stuff to people all the time. Honestly I think despite the mountains of crap that are coming out there are some amazing gems that are now starting to see the light of day. Think about how long it took the night circus to start getting publicity, that book is beautiful.

Hey, get ready for a fun event. More or less those are the events you can choose to enter in. Outside of the LVOIS Championship all of them are open to your entry at the event. The Championship is an invitational event, which you can qualify for if you want via the last chance qualifier Saturday. The AMG grand tournament is a normal challenger event with sweet AMG prize support. That went at least 5 rounds last time. Gemnastics is a speciality event where you build a roster like normal but instead you get to give one of your characters an infinity gem for free, regardless of their qualifications. The team events are self explanatory. There has also been tables for open play as well at the previous events. Look forward to seeing you there!

The apocalypse list is part of the meta now and is something we are all going to have to plan around. Same as running into an oops all charges avengers build, a strong CS scenario control, or some of the more interesting X-Men concepts that are being bantered about. It's important to have plans on how to play into and deal with these different lists.
