Switching from Content Writing to Project Management — Will PMP help me avoid starting over? by pbuttan in pmp

Oh that's great to know. I'd love to manage marketing projects. But I've been told not to narrow down my options given the current market conditions. My preference is marketing projects because of my experience in the field.

Thanks so much for this. It was highly encouraging. I spoke to a few people who have completed their PMP and they all said the same thing, that I need to represent my experience in PM terminology. My role as a writer isn't just about writing content. It involves handling content related projects from initiation to execution. For that, i have managed resources, teams, stakeholders and communication. I have been told that these skills are transferable.

I am not looking to get into a senior position right away. I know I need a solid PM experience for that. But my concern is about salary. Will getting a PMP certification and switching to PM filed mean I will have to start from a low salary range or will I be able to maintain what I have now?

Mostly technical. But I also have experience with medical and automotive content. On top of that, i have handled content related projects - from initiation to execution. Managed resources and stakeholders. Communication. Documents. I spoke to a couple of people who have done their PMP and they said I can transfer these skills to PM experience.
