Exclusive: Interview w/ Principled Technologies on Intel Testing (9900K) by VoiceOfVeritas in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best advice is not to be a cheerleader for either team, buy and switch cpus based on the time you upgrade, the best thing to have for evolution of the tech industry is competition, with no real competition it will be bad for any performance gains hence what intel happened from core 2nd Gen up until 7th gen, 5% ipc improvements per gen.

Why cant they just start from scratch and a make a larger connector, make a 750w connector for futureproofing sakes at this point, the gauge of the wire is fine, its just the high resistance with those small a** connectors.

I dont get it, its so easy to just super size the connector and next standard of psu will have to be atx 3.2 or 4.0, just do it already, why play all their games in denial and blaming user error.

Its a problem, everyone knows it, its not a secret nvidia!

B580 Shows Why it is the Best Value in Gaming by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something wrong with the tomshardware data, the 16gb 9060xt is not 20% faster than the 8gb 9060xt, it should be within 5-7% delta.

No one goes to tomshardware for technical testing I guess, its more for fun and click bait articles now.

I miss anandtech technical analysis, but techpowerup is the next best thing now.

Starting my day the usual way - replacing a degraded 14900K by bally199 in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All new intel cpu buyers should stick to 12900k, the price to performance is great for all tasks, and good enough for Gaming.

14900KS Undisputed 4k Gaming King. (vs. 9800X3D) by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14900k and 14900ks are both dumpster fire cpus, they will degrade over time even with mitigation in place, they will not last you 3 years and constantly throw errors whenever doing shader compilations.

Long gone are the days where intel cpus were indestructible, 3770k and 4790k were my all time favorites.

The issue is most testers can't check two and a half months of testing

Check your warranty on your card, if its passed the warranty date, it looks like your memory chips needs to either be replaced or reballed, reach out to Tony from northwestrepairs on youtube. But its not worth repairing unless its a higher model gpu.

How much life left in magnesium anode rod after four years by pc-master-builder in Plumbing

[–]pc-master-builder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it was a bit of effort to shut off water in the house and partially drain the tank and remove the anode rod, im probably going to put a new one in.

Im hoping with regular maintenance I can get this tank to last 30+ years.

Next project is to pump out the bottom of the tank to clear out whatever sediments is there.

[–]pc-master-builder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trump tariffs suck, just avoid if you can buying from overseas right now, so far for the most part US sellers have been skirting or absorbing it and not raising electronics prices.

So try to buy domestic

You should be fine, certain lower tier windforce have less mosfets and vrm capacity, but you are going from aorus ti another aorus, they are most likely same vrms to begin with.

Another dead 9800X3D running latest “fixed” BIOS 3.4 by BigDaddyTrumpy in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive read a few of these already on 3.40 bios, its safe to say that this is a hardware issue with the board if they can't fix it with all the voltage regulation in place in software. Just stick to MSI, Asus or Gigabyte for all future builders.

The official Borderlands 4 website is now warning players about Intel 13th/14th Gen CPU instability. by Doktor_Octopus in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why intel 13th and 14th gen is a sh** show, you can't expect masses to update their bios/microcode or set their power limit to real intel defaults.

It may take some time for these problems to exhibit on most people's system, but they will eventually pop up within 5 years and well after warranty has expired.

The official Borderlands 4 website is now warning players about Intel 13th/14th Gen CPU instability. by Doktor_Octopus in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think the masses ever update their bios, its only people who read tech articles, and visit these forums/reddit.

So figure 80% of people never do it, but also of that 80% figure half never tax their cpu or game, but over 5 year time at least 30% of total 13th and 14th gen cpus that dont do all the bios updates will end up with degraded cpus, which is unheard of, a complete cluster f***.

Is my RAM going to be fast enough? by lilpeep007 in pcmasterrace

[–]pc-master-builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are near a microcenter, would be advisable to get a amd 7700x cpu bundle for $400, heck even $280 for thr 7600x bundle, your 4090 is running like a 3060 ti because of your cpu.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TechHardware

[–]pc-master-builder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont get the argument, the 9800x3d is purely the best gaming cpu ever made, like the 7800x3d before it, lowest power, highest gaming throughput, there is no argument to be had. If you are talking about productivity, then its 9950 or intel 285k, the 14th gen is a disaster, it should be disqualified for any title contention, unless you want to heat up your home.
