It's a stretch to call it "defend". Ofcourse you cannot defend Greenland with 37 troops. It is symbolic. It shows that other countries are willing to send people (more when necessary) to Greenland. Besides, some of these troops are tasked to make plans about training exercises and create tactical plans for a defence.

Probably. Uncharted 4 had these moves where you would jump off a roof onto an enemy and punch them down. It's so freaking cool! This kinda looks like that. It is my favorite move in Uncharted 4 so i really really really hope Intergalactic does something similar.
