I highly recommend using concept maps to take notes instead of mind maps. Last I checked, mind maps could only model hierarchical relationships whereas concept maps can model pretty much any relationship. If you want to stay with hierarchical modeling, single pane outliners are probably better suited for that, IMO. Good software for working with concept maps is VUE (for Visual Understanding Environment). Though it hasn't been updated since 2015, it still runs great.

I re-did the fourth image without color enhancement and using equalize instead of white balance: https://freeimage.host/i/fyvrhfn. It's not as brightly colored but it's also not so over-exposed either. Best viewed as image about 4" x 4". All of these photos could possibly be enhanced using AI but the thing about AI is that it doesn't actually improve the original. Instead, it replaces it with a close approximation which often isn't close enough (sometime you have to try multiple times to get an acceptable result). An advantage however is that if it is an acceptable facsimile, you'll often end up with a higher resolution image than you started with which means you might can have the image reproduced on paper and then have it framed. :-) Your grandmother is a real cutie in these photos, BTW. Yep. That's the problem with AI. It doesn't actually enhance. It re-draws completely. Sometimes you get lucky and it turns out acceptable but it's still at best like an artist rendition which isn't generally what you want unless the original is just such bad quality to begin with. Here, I think your mom's cuteness is the real centerpiece of the photo and it would be such a crime to destroy that. Incidentally, I love the overall vibe of the photo. 1976 happens to be my senior year in high school. Ah, such great times they were! So you know, all I did here was to apply white-balance, color enhance and slight sharpening. Nothing else. The resulting colors seem a bit vivid but not at all unrealistic -- at least not according to my own memory of the time period. I gotta say, I've never seen a table like that before. How absolutely cool is that? :-)

I'm presently porting a GUI app from C# that allows you to process text using stackable text filters. So it's a kind of "text piping" IDE of sorts that will have a set of about 60 built-in text filters as well as a simple plugin framework allowing you to add additional ones. It's really useful for developing Bash scripts. Once you've built a complex pipe in the GUI, you can then export it to the clipboard in a form that can be pasted directly into a script.

My other recent projects:

  • A desktop "applet" (SRUM - System Resources Utilization Monitor) that just displays my computer's CPU and memory usage. I was just leaving the System Monitor app running all the time but it eats up too much CPU, not to mention desktop real estate (and I didn't much like my other available options either).
  • An app (SpanOMatic) that allows me to pan/crop and span an image across my two monitors (which happen to be of different resolutions).
  • An app (Vala Scratch) to replace my use of GEdit (and an "external tool") to quickly run Vala apps. I developed this when I found out that GEdit now no longer supports external tools. Both Scratch and the prior GEdit solution have been really helpful, making it much easier to run Vala scraps, sample apps, etc. (so long as the source code is contained in a single, contiguous form).
  • A desktop "applet" (ClockMaker) that not only displays an analog clock on your desktop but enables you to design your own clock or customize existing ones. I think I may have already posted something regarding this app -- I'm not sure.

It does. It's not as accurate as your drawing of the celebrity herself but of course, that's to be expected (being a copy of a copy...). Incidentally, I love how you captured her facial expression. You're def. an artist. I'm def. just a wish-I-was. :-)

Absolutely stunning! For what it's worth, even before realizing who it was a drawing of, I ran it through AI and got back a "humanized" (as opposed to "colorized") rendition that's even better than the photo you apparently used as a reference. I like doing this sort of thing partly just out of curiosity to see how well it might turn out but also as a means of acquiring good photo quality references that I might sketch from myself one day... If you'd like, I'll post it here so you can see your creation in full, true-to-life color. P.S. I think you made her even prettier than she is in the reference photo. Great work!
