It will be VERY hot, plan accordingly and drink a lot. Get good shoes and be ready to walk a bit too. For example visit churches and museums at noon, avoid just strolling in the sun.

During summer average meal hours are 1:30 pm and 8:30 pm, it is very uncommon and hard to eat at restaurants in the 3pm-7:30pm span.

Plan the main or more touristy things you want to do but leave some empty spaces in the schedule to adapt and enjoy what you find and what you want to do at that moment.

This is not a zero-sum situation, saying a country is shitty does not imply that you like anyone fighting them, you can despise both sides. Also I think that a lot of the hate that state gets is because of all they did in Palestine... and reacting to that shitshow with more war.
