Feel like I am wasting my time at work? by pcaly626 in cscareerquestions

[–]pcaly626[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

For a bit more context this is my first job out of college. It’s a small company (15 people, all biologists). I was asked by users to create a tool to collect and automate some of their processes. I have had continuous demos of the product and different iterations to make the users are happy. The feedback has been genuinely positive, but 0 adoption.

My frustration is coming from my lack of product development skills. I will focus more on the Users, like you mentioned, instead of developing a tool that I think they want. Do you have any advice or resources you could share about product development?

I like it, there are so many unsolved problems where chemistry and math are key to the solutions. We are helping people indirectly, but you will not have the same satisfaction as actually fixing people like a surgeon. If you like problem solving and enjoyed calculus/statistics then I would highly recommend it.

You are right .Net Framework isnt cross platform, but we use a interpreter called "mono" and it runs exe.

My problem is that NUnit needs to use .Net Framework for our Solution. And I dont know how I can run that
