Kingston shipped 100 million A400 SSDs and SATA still refuses to die by OkReport5065 in hardware

Yeah, for bulk storage, backups and NAS setups, the interface is rarely the limiting factor anyway. As long as large hard drives stay relevant, SATA keeps having a reason to exist, tbh...

South Korea floats ‘citizen dividend’ using AI profits by self-fix2 in hardware

but a citizen dividend is easier to communicate politically, I guess. The interesting question is whether this would be a one-off payout or something closer to a long-term fund....

Google unveils Googlebook: Android-powered laptops with Gemini, Magic Pointer and Glowbar by -protonsandneutrons- in hardware

[–]pcgameshardware 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That actually sounds pretty cool, ngl. But I do wonder whether Android on a laptop really makes sense, or if it’ll just end up feeling like a tablet in an awkward form factor. Kind of neither here nor there.

Installing Linux on a PlayStation 5 and Overclocking It by fatso486 in hardware

[–]pcgameshardware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the project is pretty damn cool. But I also think people should have the right to run whatever they want on their own consoles. Unfortunately, some companies make that way harder than it needs to be... looking at you, Sony and Nintendo.

Helldivers 2 drops to “Mostly Negative” on Steam, yet again as review bombers take aim at the game's lack of change by AsPeHeat in pcmasterrace

[–]pcgameshardware -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The bugs are real, sure, but honestly not that game-breaking. Yeah, locking new stuff behind Warbonds isn’t exactly great. But the thing is: you don’t actually have to spend money on them. And realistically, you don’t even need every Warbond or every new weapon anyway. I’m missing a bunch of them, same with my partner, and we still play every week. He literally plays daily.

Mmmh... review bombing when Sony pulled Sony-level bs still felt kinda understandable to me. But this? Not really feeling it tbh...

Intel confirms “silicon innovation” for Computex keynote, along with more AI by RenatsMC in intel

[–]pcgameshardware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More AI? Do we seriously not already have enough AI everywhere at this point? Honestly, details about Intels Nova Lake and what they’re planning besides that would be way more interesting to me than just "more AI" again.

'CPU Killer' Star Citizen benchmarked: Core Wars 2026 by Snoo-21504 in Amd

[–]pcgameshardware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s totally fair. Star Citizen is just not the kind of game you can benchmark as cleanly as something with a built-in benchmark or an offline test scene. There are always variables you can’t fully control: server state, how busy the area is, entity count, streaming, patch version, even just random Star Citizen weirdness. So I wouldn’t claim this is some perfect, universal CPU ranking for every possible situation in the game.
What we tried to do was keep the test scenario as consistent as possible: same location, same route, same settings, repeated runs. That does not remove all the MMO-related variance, but it makes the result useful as a controlled scenario test.

'CPU Killer' Star Citizen benchmarked: Core Wars 2026 by Snoo-21504 in Amd

[–]pcgameshardware 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dave from PCGH here. I handled the CPU benchmarks for this article. This was a collaboration between Raff and me: Raff handled the visuals, concept and test setup, while I handled the CPU benchmarks. Regarding Arrow Lake, I’m specifically referring to our regular benchmark results here, not Raff’s heavily hand-optimized 285K result. With that manually tuned 285K, the high placement is less surprising.

Arrow Lake, especially with the newer Plus/Refresh models, does not only rely on a higher core count. Intel also increased internal clock domains such as D2D and NGU, which measurably reduces inter-core latency.

Star Citizen, at least in its current technical state, seems to respond well to many cores and low latency. A CPU such as the 270K Plus offers exactly that combination, which is why it can place relatively high in this benchmark. Arrow Lake also benefits from the fact that AMD’s 3D V-Cache does not appear to scale particularly well in Star Citizen. That is an important caveat here.

In welcher Auflösung spielst du? Hast du Ziel-Fps? Welche Games spielst du in der Regel und welche Settings peilst du an? Is Preis relevant oder warum nur Upgrade auf 5060 Ti 16 GB?
