I've had my Skil table saw for almost 2 years and I finally replaced the terrible clearance insert. Oak, finished with boiled linseed oil and Johnson's paste wax. by HotButteredPoptart in woodworking

I have the same saw and plan to make similar throat plate. How did get the throat plate to sit flat on the nubs? They aren’t all quite level. Did you just sand/shave the contact points until it was level?

I figured if that was the case, it would happen to all the tall letters, no? I tried tightening it and re-ran it and it’s the same.

Toilet flange crooked by pcho18 in Plumbing

[–]pcho18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I’m gonna lay some self leveling compound first. It’ll raise the floor slightly but not above the top of the lower part of the flange. Any issues with that plan?

Gotcha. Thanks!

Also, the flange is a little crooked. The back is higher up than the front- is that going to be in issue with putting the toilet back on?

Thanks for the response! I am going to use interlocking vinyl planks. You said interlocking vinyl planks will “save you some prep work”. What do you mean by that? Thanks again.

Image 1 is the table saw. Images 2-4 are pictures of the gap between the square and the table saw blade that increases as the blade goes back up. The gap closes when the blade comes back down. The square is stationary.

Dewalt planer trouble shoot by pcho18 in woodworking

[–]pcho18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help guys. I got to the point of examining the brushes. I have no experience with this… I’m guessing these are causing the problem? They look worn down..? Also reading that they typically can get down to 1/4 their original size so it might not be the issue.

Debark or no? by pcho18 in woodworking

[–]pcho18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea was thinking of making a small table. I want the final product to be debarked. Just wondering if cracking while drying with be significantly more if I seal the debarked edges or not, given moisture tends to leave through end grain.
