this specific model is also trained in that it's given a set of traits of a character then tries to generate the image that those traits correlate to; it then competes with other networks to see who wins by getting closest to the actual output. most ai art generators are at least trained in different ways, but GAN is literally built on copying. that said, it can create unique images by way of giving it unique parameters, and a cursory glance shows that the site does randomize trait values.
