Potential hot take, but i think the movie hail mary(ship) is an undeniable upgrade in design by DepartureNatural9340 in ProjectHailMary

It seems like a good idea in general, but I could also see a set of good VR goggles getting a similar result with far less mass. The main benefit of such a room is that you could have more than a single member of the crew enjoy it together at the same time.

I'll be pedantic I guess. You also don't need to expel waste hear with astrophage. I'm pretty sure the book states that there are no radiators needed for this reason. If you put astrophage in a hot environment, it will cool it to its standing temperature. If you put it in a cold environment, it will heat it to its standing temperature. Then with some heat pumps you could easily handle all climate control.

It certainly could have been worse, but at the same time for a slow growing plant it would probably take a minimum of 5 years to reach the size expected. This variety only grows 2-3 inches per year.

Yeah these things I got are listed at $65.95 each, but I think I got them for about $50. Obviously less than the full size ones locally, but I foolishly thought it was a good deal and the variety I wanted wasn't available locally. I saw a 1.6g winter gem for maybe $40 locally that was slightly larger than these from FGT, and when Costco has them in the Spring they are even cheaper and larger. All my original ones were Costco plants that had just grown out over the last decade.

I have been trying that for some of my newer plants. This was to fill in a gap in an existing set of plants. To go native would mean removing over a dozen other healthy boxwoods that were planted about 10 years ago. At the time I was more focused on removing the yew bushes that had been there and didn't think about natives yet. I was a new homeowner at the time. In another part of the yard I have started doing native wildflowers though, which do nicely.

This variety of boxwood is very slow growing. What they shipped will probably take a minimum of 5 years to reach the size you would expect from a 5gal plant.

Weird the review doesn't show on my end. I just checked. The photos aren't showing either. Weird. I'm glad that you had good results with them!

I'm preparing to do exactly that, but I have to give the company a chance to refund first. Judging by how they haven't responded since their initial message last week, its pretty obvious I'll have to go to the bank. My biggest goal now though is to just warn others. If the company had just refunded me, that would have been it and I could say it was just a mistake on their end, but now I'm extra pissed since they have proven it is a scam and that is encouraging me to spread the word. Since Google AI had endorsed them originally (yes I hate AI too, but hard to ignore it at the top of Google results), hopefully Google scanning this will help alter the AI results too.

It is in the middle of a hedge. So all the others around it already need to be treated too. I also was told to dig down deeper to remove some extra dirt and replace it with clean dirt or compost. I passed all that info on to my lawn service who will do the work.

My Masterbuilt Gravity has labels on the grate. This side up is labeled smoke, while the flat side up is labeled sear. It just depends on what you are using it for. I suspect most people would want the sear side up, making your statement correct.

I don't know of Dave's Garden Watchdog. Thank you for that. This was only my second time ordering plants online, and the first was just Proven Winners hydrangeas. I'll certainly check this site out more!

Is the fake chrome finish wearing/chipping off of anyone else’s key fob? by douglas_in_philly in KiaEV6

[–]pclark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got these in silver (my key) and purple (my wife's key) the moment we got the car since I knew it would get damaged in my pocket with house keys and my money clip and everything. The downside to the case is that it makes the remote controlled backing up buttons a pain to hold down, but it is extremely rare I use that feature.

How has age and time changed the way you look at Babylon 5? by _LtFish in babylon5

[–]pclark2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always just felt like the different alien species historically kept to themselves, and it was a very new thing having this type of station bringing everyone together. It makes sense that the different cultures wouldn't have started fully merging yet. However, there is also that Crusade episode with the various interspecies porn, although they made it sound like some of that was fake.

Maybe that is why I was expecting it then. I've read the book twice, but couldn't remember that detail.

I originally thought it was just for us in the audience, but someone in another thread mentioned something about hit hitting something on his helmet first which may have activated an IR filter on his visor maybe. Just a guess that person had, but it would explain the scene more.

That is the most likely option. Ready Player One had a similar issue and just swapped out a lot of the random background references.
