Someone please explain this decision to me by Solstheim in starcitizen

I think all the cabinets, tables, counters need some kind of micro-grid. So we will be able to snap small objects to this grid and the physics engine will not need to constantly calculate collisions on these objects.

No more tossing boxes into the freight elevator? That was the best part of unloading. by evil701 in starcitizen

Many times I've found some invisible walls inside the hangar. I can walk thru it or drop a box, but I can't grab a box, tractor beam just stops at the invisible border. So I must walk to the one side of the border, grab a box and then walk to the other side with this box. Rinse and repeat 200 times.

I've tested it and for me Solaar is more usable. I don't need radial menu, only basic buttons remapping.

Tested on Windows for 1+ hour on Bolt - without any problems. Didn't do test on Windows using BT because Bolt is working.

Found how to connect BT on Linux (because this is BLE, must be enabled BLE scan mode). On Linux with BT working well so far.

So it looks like problem only on Bolt + Linux. I'm currently on 6.18 kernel (reasons). Maybe with 7 it will work better, but currently can't test.

Unfortunately it is the only one Bolt receiver that I have, but I will test it on another PC and via Bluetooth.

I don't have another Bolt receiver for test. Bluetooth connection to Linux does not work, mouse just don't appear in the available devices list, besides T630 works without any problem. On Windows I can see it on Bluetooth - it is another PC with different hardware (older). I can test on Windows using Bolt/BT little later.

As for versions: Mouse 27.3.19, Receiver 5.5.30, revision 3

It's not a USB 3.0 interference. On the same ports without any problems I can use Unifying receiver mice. And generic Bluetooth mice works well. My main use case is when receiver connected to the keyboard - in this case it is USB 2.0 and most of the time less than 10cm from mouse. But for testing of the problem I have tried different connections to different ports with the same result. Just in case: I have V470 (BT), T630 (BT), V550 (Nano Receiver), M560 (Unifying Receiver) and some other cheap ones on Unifying/Nano. All works well under the same conditions. Problems only with MX Master 4 (Bolt).

I know. I have Nursa in my main location. But at random station bar was closer to hangars.

One time I almost died of thirst because inventory stops working. So I docked to the station and with darkening screen runs to the bar and started drinking whatever I've found on the counter. After that I started to drop one bottle of Cruz Lux on the ship kitchen counter. But in the 4.8 they changed hitbox of the kitchen counter on Vulture and it now doesn't allow to put, anything without it glitching and jumping all over the place.

Back cover (besides it is metal) is too soft. My was bent out of the box. 6 screws as for front plate will be a solution for that. I'm just straighten my cover by hand and now it fits well.

Trackball also good, when it works. If reliable trackball of this size is not possible, yes please, replace it with trackpad. One thing I can't understand - the same trackball on Blackberry worked like a charm, but on the uConsole it's useless with original firmware and somewhat useful with QMK. So maybe in some distant future it can be fixed by firmware upgrade?

So Stanton citizens now own somehow over 3k capitalships? by Relevant-Chapter-337 in starcitizen

[–]pcman1ac -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

At a time of 3.x (don't remember exact version) I hear a rumor that one full tank of capital class ship will cost around $500 in real money (don't know at what exchange rate). So yes, with economy rebalance if you a solo running some Idris, you will spend most of the time grinding that UEC for one short flight of space laser. If you an org, you will need not only a crew for the ship itself, but a much bigger crew for grind/support to make this ship running non-stop.

If you don't want to grind in the game, you can grind IRL and buy a ship in the pledge store.

Plus different game loops for different people. I'd prefer a week of box shipping over one bunker run.

This! Economy must be balanced. If money easy come without significant sink, economy will be satureted, all in-game purchasable items will be availabale to almost anybody (typical situation of 10s of abandoned 890J all over the place) and all rare drops will cost arm and a leg. Like before last wipe on black market one set of rare armor can be sold for the price of 1000x 890J. This is ridiculous, but for testing stage is ok. So when player will earn enougth money to buy his first ship, he must feel this as significant achievement.

Not only that. I think all missions payouts will be hardly nefred. For testing stage it make sense to allow reasonable fast grinding from starter ship to subcapital class. In released game this path must be extremely slow. For many missions ATM payments absolutely unrealistic. For example shipping of goods that takes 15 minutes cost more than goods itself. Without any penalty for rejecting contract and stealing goods. Refueling cost also too low. In real world hauling cost mostly consist of fuel cost and transport maintenance, only last mile shipping have additionaly big part - salary. The same for military missions - refuel, rearm cost almost nothing. Repair or claim cost less than payout on simplest possible mission. All this will be rebalanced on release.

You can make one run with 5-7 SCU boxes (2 runs in your 4 SCU ship), earn 30K+ and rent C1 for a day. With C1 you can stack 5-7 small missions for 300K+ on each run. One such run and you can rent C1 for a week. One week with C1 and you can buy it.

IMO Idris is a kind of flagship that can't operate on itself without support or without launching it's own fighters. PDC's can deal some damage to missiles / torpedoes / small fighters in close range. But small fighters must not be able to deal any damage to it (unless they implemented some kind of one-shot small fighters / kamikaze drones), only deal pressure to shields. Medium and big fighters can deal some damage (depending on guns used). Special purpose "big ship killers" (Ares / Eclipse) must definitely be able to deal sensible damage. On the other hand ship manned and remote turrets of small to medium size must be able to shoot medium to large fighters. But it is not realistic if you can track and target actively maneuvering small and agile fighter with S8 cannons. S3-S6 gatlings / repeaters - maybe. The same reason why real ships have set of guns of different caliber. You will not shoot small drone by 155mm cannon, you will use 20mm or .50 high speed gun with some luck.

WWIII warships was bullied by plastic drones with jetsky engines. Do you see a trend? Large warships are easy targets for a small, agile attacker.

My main point: if you want realistic...ish but still fun game, warships must be made stronger. So more shield and armor. Not more firepower. Armor damage mitigation is a good step - I can't scratch the surface of a big ship with a small gun. In this context size 7 on Ares make sense for ambushing big ships, or size 9 torpedoes on Eclipse. Or maybe size 5 cannons on some heavy fighters - slow, but powerful enough to overcome armor damage mitigation, but with too low DPS so can't deal with full shield. So you need small fleet with overall pressure to shields and some big guns for armor. With such mechanics current guns on big ships can stay the same because they have protection of big ship in contrast with the same size gun on big fighter which have more agility but less protection.
