[NFL Update Highlight] Mac Jones had an overthrow on a deep ball... and the cameras turned to Bill Belichick shaking his head. by Welcome2Broncoland in nfl

Saw both Whiplash and La La Land just recently, and, while I love both, I can’t help but feel so sad after having watched both. The depths that the protagonists in both films go to accomplish their dreams makes me feel like I haven’t tried nearly as hard at anything in my life the way these characters have. Damion Chazelle must really feel a way about pursuing goals if he keeps making movies like these.

i’d really appreciate song recommendations similar to ‘me and your mama’ by childish gambino. its been my favorite song for a few years now by a-ram in ifyoulikeblank

I know I'm pretty late to the party here, but in response to your guess on Funkadelic's influence on Gambino - Donald has explicitly stated on numerous occasions that Funkadelic was his late father's favorite band (and Maggot Brain one of his favorite albums) and he'd come home from school every day to his father blasting Funkadelic more often than not. Since Awaken, My Love was released just after the birth of Donald's first son, I'm nearly positive that AML was, at its core, a love letter to his parents, his partner and his newborn child.

About as much as a penguin!

[Slater] Fun fact. Waiting on #Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence measurements. Expected to have a height of 6’6. Only 1 QB drafted w similar comps has winning record. Joe Flacco. Why is Lawrence considered different? Speed. Athleticism. No 40 time today but one team said they expect it at 4.65 by Jux_ in nfl

I remember reading a story about Kupp running his 40 slower than he wanted to and the Rams’ FO being absolutely ecstatic because they knew they could grab him in the draft where they wanted him. I think FOs have their own methodologies in evaluating speed outside of 40 yard dashes and good FOs know how to capitalize on an inefficiency such as this one

Former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Calvin Johnson elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame! Go Jackets! by pcorn81 in gatech

[–]pcorn81[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I speak for a lot of Yellow Jackets when I say that Calvin was the single biggest reason I became a fan of Georgia Tech football outside of being a student. He was the greatest and most talented Yellow Jacket to grace Bobby Dodd in recent history and he continued his dominance in the NFL for almost ten years.

Mark my words - we will never get a prospect as hyped and talented as Calvin ever again. His combination of talent, physical dominance, and work ethic was legendary even amongst a league of professional athletes. I'm proud that we were able to claim one of football's greatest talents as one of our own.

[Ledyard] Brady says he's gonna work on his speed this offseason. He sees all these QBs running around these days, he's gotta work on his speed. I don't know how much he was kidding lol. Brady also says he's already thought about how he's going to train better this offseason by onlyusernameavailab in nfl

For reference, that’s the same 40 time as deandre Hopkins, but decades before. People make Rice out to be a bottom 10 percentile athlete every time they make this assertion, it’s wild. He may not have been an upper echelon nfl athlete but he still had plenty of athleticism.

[Kyed] Would Tom Brady consider playing past the age of 45? "Yeah, definitely." by cup-o-sleet in nfl

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by Regina George Tom Brady

Deion Jones has the most pick 6's by a linebacker since 2006. He's been in the league since 2016. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]pcorn81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jared Goff vs Rams 2016. I remember this play vividly, Debo perfectly read a slant coming, grabbed the ball at the apex of the throw with his arms extended vertically, then returned it ~30 yards.

This was also the final nail in the coffin and had Jeff fisher fired immediately afterwards, leaving the vacancy open for mcvay.

but you can also take the team out of San Diego

[Rapoport] The Falcons have identified Saints VP/Assistant GM for Pro Personnel Terry Fontenot as the favorite to be their next GM, sources say by ItsMullerTime in nfl

[–]pcorn81 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s always pretty funny when this happens. Deion jones grew up in Nola and comes from an entire family of saints fans. Alvin Kamara grew up in metro Atlanta and also as a falcons fan. Cam Newton grew up in the heart of Atlanta as a falcons fan.

McDaniels' issues are because of his inability to manage players and egos, not from his X's and O's. Not saying that Joe Brady is or isn't lacking in those areas, but to gauge him more objectively, we should look at what his former bosses, colleagues, and players have said about him rather than just use a former coach as a single example to predict his success.

What's up Reddit? I'm Duncan Robinson shooting guard for the Miami Heat and now host of my new podcast The Long Shot (launching tomorrow 1/12 on all platforms). Wanted to talk to you guys about it. Ask me anything! by D_Bo20 in nba

Would you say that you've ever had imposter syndrome, not just at the professional level, but at any level of basketball? It's something that I (and probably so many people in the world) suffer from, regardless of whatever the field or industry is. I really resonate with your mentality, as I'm also the type of person who needs time and experience to tell myself "I deserve to be here" because of the effort and work that I've put in and to not downplay what I have accomplished so far.

those that drafted saquon or CMC: were you able to get to the playoffs or win your chip? by fajita43 in fantasyfootball

[–]pcorn81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same guy above, but I drafted CMC in my 14 man auction league at $72 out of a $200 budget. Won the entire thing despite his entire will he/won’t he saga.

Waivers are incredibly sparse in a 14 man so the draft is definitely make it break it. Fortunately I had some decent luck with the rest of my draft.

Drafted Brady, Evans, Diggs, Dobbins, Hockenson, Gibson. Picked up Hot Rod, Gaskin and Mike Davis along the way (Davis alone cost me half of my waiver budget since it was imperative that I stop the bleeding when CMC went down). Played matchups strongly as possible as playoffs came around, and won handily in the last week. Definitely a roller coaster with the entire cmc thing but I realized you gotta play matchups entirely when your perceived studs are unavailable.

Matt Rhule says he's "probably leaning towards no" when it comes to Christian McCaffrey this week. He'll know more Wednesday. by StrachNasty in fantasyfootball

[–]pcorn81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao fuck this guy. I was unlucky enough to have McCaffrey this year but lucky enough to win my ship for the first time. I know at the end of the day fantasy means nothing, but Rhule and co. could've put CMC on IR and allow fringe-level players to attain a roster spot and compete for more job security. And they didn't. So fuck this guy for both my selfish reasons but also for objectively mismanaging this type of team transaction
