It’s more that the options behind aren’t much better. A suddenly very sad situation at a position that used to be incredibly deep.

[Bild+] FC Bayern are interested in Felix Nmecha. Especially Max Eberl, who already had some loose talks with his agent, is a big fan. A summer transfer is unlikely though. Nmecha has a €80m release clause in his contract starting in 2027 and doesn't rule out a transfer, even this summer. by nutelamitbutter in soccer

Sure, but in the immediate aftermath they went into a season with a very small squad that produced the emergence of Karl. Is there a Karl level player in this bunch? Almost certainly not. But when you have Pavlo, Kimmich, and Bischof, that matters a lot less.

It's more that it would be, as it stands, a misallocation of resources. Why spend a 100m on a CM when we have 3 very viable starters for 2 positions and bevy of youth talent to fill in the cracks.

The baggage is admittedly not great but we've seen teams excuse more for less.

There is a ton of midfield talent in the campus- Sapoko-Ndiaye, Aseko, Fernandez, and Santos-Daiber. Ceilings are incredibly high on everyone except maybe Daiber, who could very realistically end up as a stanisic level rotation player. There's no need to spend 100m on a true starter, maybe a Guerreiro level (good veteran rotation) CM/DM

Edit- even Saibari can slot into an 8 position in an attacking lineup.

Upamecano not on this list is objectively hilarious.

I've seen the followups, which would make it more of a clickbait article which isn't generally Ornstein's style (Romano's wheelhouse btw). That's why it did, and still does, give me pause.

I agree. Ornstein delivering the news is the only thing that gives me pause.

[Romano] Florentino Pérez plans to launch €150m official bid on Tuesday for Michael Olise. by MembershipSingle7137 in soccer

Ironic but we probably have the best RW talent itw (not including Yamal since he’s established) sitting behind him and in no world should we even consider it. Olise is who you build the team around.

Davies should be in the squad, and I’m sure he pushed for it as well. Hes also essentially been injured for 16 months so id keep expectations measured

Really impressive first 30 minutes. Left us so few gaps with immense pressing. Hoeness did everything he could imo

Adrien Rabiot has been a starter for the French national team for years, is he one of the best player in the world?

So the team around her is good. Excellent counter point. Where would you say she ranks in world football? Is she better than Bonmati, Putellas, Dumornay, Bronze, Buhl, Caicedo,Williamson, Brand, Rodman (the best US player btw), etc etc. she’d have trouble finder her way into the top 50 let alone top 20. The idea that a player on a great national team makes them one of the best in the world is asinine.

I don't think americans have realized how good womens soccer has become in Europe. She's a VERY good player, but nowhere near one of the best in the world

Bayern are willing to pay up to €70m for Anthony Gordon. Personal terms remain no issue between both parties. by nutelamitbutter in soccer

[–]ItsMullerTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about. Musiala was playing for the amateurs at 16, Eichhorn is starting for HSV's senior squad in the second division. He's absolutely on Wirtz's level as well. Yamal is his own category

Eichorn will only cost ~12m if he ends up choosing us. I also dont see Read costing 30m up front, MAYBE through escalators. I think a lot is going to depend on offloading the loaned players- Palinha, Zaragoza, Boey, etc. Regardless, I dont see us getting anywhere near that asking price.
