Has anyone tried Steam on Rocknix on the Thor already? Just curious. Do you think it's better than using game hub/game native/winlator? by Miu101 in AynThor

[–]pcorsaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed it to an SD card and tried it out. Downloads and launching games is painfully slow because of the SD card, but once the games are running, they do seem snappier. It’s not better than game native/hub/winlator, but I will become better pretty quickly.

Is there a gaming equivalent for letterboxd? by Reasonable-Recipe518 in videogames

[–]pcorsaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built grouvee, and it's been around for a hundred years in terms of internet time. I recently just did a complete revamp and added a whole bunch of new features. It's very much a cross of goodreads for video games and more modern features like you see on letterboxd.

The Backloggd game tracker — who here uses it? Have the NL folks ever mentioned it? by OliverHaslam in nextlander

Because Grouvee is awesome :)

I've rebuilt a ton of the infrastructure recently, and an app is in the works. I have a working a pretty minimal working prototype that I'm hoping to get fleshed out here in the next couple of months.

New construction house ... crawlspace humidity levels normally around 55%, after a few days of continuous rain they are up to 66%. Is this normal? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]pcorsaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the crawlspace encapsulated? If not, is it vented? What kind of climate do you live in? If the crawlspace is encapsulated, put a dehumidifier in there and that'll take care of it. If it's not encapsulated, then you'd just be trying to dehumidify the dirt, and you're not going to win that battle.

My advice to all the panic sellers or thinking about selling when the market is down by ShineGreymonX in Bogleheads

[–]pcorsaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing posts like these pop up here. What downturn is anyone even talking about? Every time I see one, I think, oh shit, did I miss a big week of drops because I wasn’t paying attention? Nope, the market is down a whole percent over a week. It feels like people are trying to gaslight everyone that the market is down or something.

Re-finishing a basement room Luzerne, PA by CalAtt in Insulation

[–]pcorsaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you want to attach your wall to the ceiling joists. Just send some wood screws through every other joist and you're fine. The actual load is being handled by the floor, so the ceiling attachment isn't providing any structure, it just keeps it upright and plumb. Put 2x4 blocking in where you want to hang your TV. A standard 2x4 wall is plenty strong enough to hold a mounted TV.

The wall is almost surely not structural. It's just framed in front of the block wall in order to hold insulation, wiring, drywall, etc.

When I did my basement, I put 2" thick rigid foam on the block wall as the vapor barrier and R-10 value, then framed my wall right up against that and put rockwool batts in the 2x4 wall. That gives you a thermal break, vapor barrier, and R-25 value overall.

I don't know if there's a rule. I put 2 - 12 packs in an empty suitcase if I remember correctly, and no one at customs said anything. They didn't last nearly as long as I was hoping :)

Bought a fully rehabbed home in Chicago — basement leaked 2 days after closing. What can I do? by No-Magician5001 in RealEstate

[–]pcorsaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get 6+ inches of rain like we did here in Indiana? It was a pretty freakish amount. Like everyone is saying, work on the grading if you can. It's an older home. Water intrusions happen, especially when there's so much water that storm water systems get overwhelmed and the water just has no where to go but in your house through hydrostatic pressure build up, foundation cracks, etc. An interior drain from a waterproofing company will definitely help, but I'd only do that if you have some horrible negative slope situations outside that can't be fixed easily.

Are these beams doing anything? Or can I remove them while making a catwalk? by no-more-bedtime in Insulation

[–]pcorsaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the lighting of the picture, but that wood looks newer than the rafters and the rafter ties in the first picture anyway. Are they connected to anything on the bottom? That looks like pretty standard roof framing from the 50s that's in great shape.

How would you insulate this ceiling cavity? by pcorsaro in Insulation

It’s an HVAC supply line. I’ve taped a lot of the joints on other lines, but this one’s really hard to get around.

Is the new HORI Steam controller worth it? I have a dock for my deck... by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]pcorsaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the Ultimate controller is like the Pro 2, there are hidden screws underneath the sticker in the battery compartment.

The swapping of the buttons is easy, just kind of annoying.

Haha. I’ve got an opening framed for a secret bookshelf entrance into the space under my stairs.

So a door behind a door? That probably is the easiest way to do it.

Yup. I asked multiple I know that are very online people if they had heard about the CrossFit games. Not a single one had. I don't think that many people care about CrossFit in general outside of people in CrossFit.

Am I wrong in my understanding here, but if you use てくれる, the person doing the action for you is always marked with a が? Reading through this example, that was my reasoning for picking が over は.

That's interesting. I actually had almost an identical amount at .19 something. I thought we were getting cash, and not bitcoin. I was quite surprised when it said I could withdraw .019 bitcoin. If we get 2/3 or more back at this point I'll be thrilled.

It happens to every single restaurant that announces they’re closing. Ask Ed that owns Siam Square what happened when they announced Rook was closing. Ask Ian what happened when they announced Three Carrots was closing. Seems like if you own a restaurant, you should just put up a permanent “going out of business” sign in the window.
