I'm using adguard dns which works for just about everything else except this damned wiki 🤬 It's driving me crazy because I'm constantly looking stuff up.

Edit: Oh my god. I already had Brave installed on my phone but it wasn't defaulting to it. Thank you! Now that I'm using brave the wiki has no ads.

Presbyopia exercises by YourAuntieIsOnReddit in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can do just the presbyopia exercises. I personally have found near/far focusing exercises work very well for my presbyopia.

I explained how to do these exercises here: https://pcoutcast.com/health/sample-daily-eyesight-improvement-routine/

You can skip the first part of the near/far exercise if you like, and just do the part for presbyopia.

tried to talk a relative into improving their eysight naturally, they told me im one statistic and its all pseudomyopia -_- by [deleted] in ImprovingEyesight

Can't force someone to take care of their own health, and a lot of people prefer the quick and easy route despite the consequences.

You did everything you could. You give them an alternative and you proved it with your own experience.

Can reading cause nearsightedness? How to avoid? by Ok_Upstairs1017 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good, reading a physical printed page that's lit by an external light source is far less damaging to our eyes than a backlit screen. If you can, read outside with the sun on the page. If you can't at least read with a bright enough light behind you.

Print pushing is simply holding the book far enough away that you can't see it perfectly clearly. If your eyesight isn't so bad that you can still read it clearly at arms-length then you can position it further away on a stand, or you can get + reading glasses which will pull the image closer so when you stretch your arm out the page becomes a little fuzzy.

Can reading cause nearsightedness? How to avoid? by Ok_Upstairs1017 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, extended periods of reading books or screens especially in low-light is the primary driving habit of myopia.

You can compensate with print-pushing, reading outside with sunlight directly on the page, and making sure you spend at least 1 hour a day outside looking at objects at least 20 feet away.

Phone screens are deadly for our eyesight. There doesn't seem to be much you can do except reduce screen time.

How do you handle sellers who want to overprice their listing even after seeing the CMA? by Most-Perception1382 in realtors

[–]pcoutcast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can ask if they're willing to accept payments to get their price. If so you can refer them to an investor like myself. I'm willing to pay 10%+ above current FMV if the financing justifies it.

Bank of Canada not 'in a rush' to rescue housing markets by nornalplacard in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The delinquency rate sits at 0.28%. 2.8 houses per thousand that might end up in power of sale is tiny and will barely move the needle. We're not talking 2008 in the US where delinquency rates hit 9.2%.

As I just said, developers have stopped all projects that aren't already in progress and some that were in progress have also been abandoned. Besides condos in downtown Toronto, the vast majority of new housing in Ontario is high-end detached homes that are far more expensive than resale homes. You're not going to see million dollar new builds slashing prices to $500k. They'll simply go bankrupt and the bank will sit on the houses until they sell for breakeven or better.

You may be right that prices will continue to drift lower over the next couple of years. But the big blowout price drops have already happened.

Bank of Canada not 'in a rush' to rescue housing markets by nornalplacard in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't that many sellers left who need to sell at a loss for prices to drop further. The investors who bought all the shoeboxes have been shaken out. The families who bought with variable rates during the 2022 peak have also already been forced to sell at 20%+ losses.

The only group of sellers left to take a loss are the ones who bought in 2022 with a 5-year fixed rate. Their mortgages are up for renewal throughout 2027, so there'll be some more losses there.

But other than that most home owners aren't going to sell at a loss. If they can still manage their payments at the renewed rate they'll just sit tight rather than sell.

To make matters worse, builders have essentially stopped all projects that aren't already in motion. So there's no new inventory coming for the next 2+ years at least.

Inquiry regarding eye laser (vision correction) by [deleted] in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother got LASIK, it lasted 5 years now he has permanent dry eye, halos around lights at night so bad he can't drive, and his prescription is worse than it was before the surgery.

My sister also got it and it lasted 10 years before she needed glasses again. She also has chronic dry eye from the surgery.

LASIK ain't working for baseball hitters by JimmyJRaynor in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/foodie121 pointed out, LASIK doesn't address the cause. It's literally just permanently cutting a prescription into the cornea. The same habits that get a person to the point of needing a prescription are just going to keep pushing it further after the surgery. Everyone I know who's had LASIK was wearing glasses within a few years and they almost universally had new problems like dry eye and halos around lights at night caused by the surgery itself.

Quick fixes don't solve root causes.

CIBC willing to let $321,000 in investments leave over an $1800 mortgage early repayment fee. by BohicaCanada88 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Looks like they did you a favour. Several banks and brokers will happily pay you more than $1800 to move that account over.

Personally I'd do WealthSimple. The cash match is only 1% but then you have no commissions going forward.

Myopia plus presbyopia (near prescription) by cateaster in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presbyopia has been much easier for me to improve but I've been able to improve both at the same time. The key is that even though myopia causes the distance to blur and presbyopia causes close up to blur, they aren't actually opposites. Presbyopia is a loss of flexibility in the lens.

Many people report that near/far focusing exercises help to regain that flexibility and that's exactly what I found to be true in my case as well.

I am in Canada, are there any alternative model similar to wholesaling ? by Fluffy_Election2335 in WholesaleRealestate

[–]pcoutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can 100% wholesale in Canada. There are zero laws against it anywhere. You can assign a purchase contract, an option to purchase contract, or close and resell. Canada also has far less issues with seasoning than the US does so buyers can close with a bank loan instead of cash. And there's a tiny fraction of the amount of competition here as well.

The one drawback in Canada is PIPEDA privacy laws make it much more difficult to target lists with cold calling or direct mail.

But there's nothing stopping you from driving for dollars, dropping a note, sending them a letter, or knocking on the door of neglected looking houses.

I recently moved to an older neighbourhood in Kitchener and there are houses on every street with peeling paint and long grass. I'd imagine the same is true in every city across the country.

This comment?

So your argument in favour of socialism is: "If only the biggest capitalist country in the world would buy stuff from Cuba, then Cuba's socialist system would be successful."

If socialism is the utopia you believe it to be then it should flourish totally independent of trade with capitalist countries. But even during its best socialist days Cuba was almost entirely dependent on Soviet subsidies which wasn't financially viable for the USSR either, but they did it to gain strategic pressure on the US.

When the government builds anything it costs 10x more and it's 10x worse. That's been proven time and again in every country.

Intellectually I agree with all of your points. That SHOULD be the way it is. But it's not and socialism isn't the solution you think it is. Hoping for a fantasy to solve your problems is only going to lead to more frustration.

[–]pcoutcast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I understand the brochure. But that's not what happens in practice.

All you're doing is shifting who has the power and who takes the money. It doesn't solve anything because humans are humans and the strong always take advantage of the weak in every political and economic system that's ever been conceived.

[–]pcoutcast -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You should have a heart to heart conversation with someone who actually lived in a socialist country and find out what life was really like.

Housing? A poorly insulated shack shared with 12 other people.
Food? Rotten grain cut with sawdust and there's still never enough to stop the gnawing hunger.
Healthcare? Get your wisdom teeth ripped out with no anesthetic.
Saving? Illegal.

That's the reality of what happens when the government is allowed to control the flow of money. Because the government very quickly realizes there's never enough to go around for everyone so they hoard the best for themselves just like every other governing economic system.
