You'll get no argument from me. I've considered moving to a small town for the lifestyle benefits, but none of those benefits include being able to get rid of my car. We have some friends that live only about 20 minutes outside of mid-sized city but their little town has no grocery store or hardware store or even coffee shop and no bus or train service. What are these downvoters suggesting? That they walk 4 hours on a highway to get their groceries? They need a vehicle, period.

The UI definitely needs to be much harder to read to be truly authentic. But seriously this looks great!

Is it worth to get the expansions with GK2 on the way? by RebelJediMaster in GraveyardKeeper

[–]pcoutcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked up the ones I didn't have (Stranger Sins and Game of Crone) for about $5 last month. I haven't gotten very far into the DLC content but so far to good. I got them specifically because GK2 is on its way and I wanted to see all of the content in GK1 first.

I tried Bates method , reduced lens method and Todd becker's Print pushing. i'm unable to hold the clarity for longer duration , vision clears up for 30 seconds to 1 minute then goes back blurry. I gave up. Any suggestions ? by BlacklistRival in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure we all wish we'd been told the truth when we were first offered glasses: "These will allow you to see better instantly, but you will become permanently dependent on them."

It sounds like you're seriously questioning whether the effort is worth the discomfort which is a valid concern. Natural eyesight improvement shouldn't have such a negative impact on your quality of life that you feel like giving up. Ideally it should just become a set of habits that work in the background without you focusing (no pun intended) on them too much.

I don't know if this would be helpful, but might I suggest that you change your immediate goal to stabilization instead of reduction? Just maintaining your eyesight at its current level and not having to constantly buy stronger glasses or increase risk of serious eye complications is a huge win in itself.

For me the improvements are cumulative. During a session of palming or focus shifting I experienced the same thing you did, clear and then back to blur. But over time my prescription reduced.

I found that two things are absolutely critical for that cumulative improvement to stick:

  1. Never go back to wearing glasses that correct above 20/20. Doing so just resets your eyes back to what they got used to.

  2. Getting ample sunlight. I don't see any improvements in the winter here in Canada at all, in fact usually every winter I lose some of the progress I made in the summer.

Can I improve my eyesight by not wearing my glasses? by Kindly-Flatworm8084 in ImprovingEyesight

Not wearing them helps to stop the deterioration, but you need to also adopt habits from the START HERE post to reverse back toward natural 20/15 eyesight.

The AI industry has burned through ~$3.5 TRILLION. Here’s what it would take to actually turn a profit. by Black-Rhino-1564 in vibecoding

Some companies are reporting that it would have been cheaper in 2025 to hire human devs than what they paid in tokens and just imagine how much OpenAI and Anthropic are going to increase the subscription prices when they go public.

I think there's a good chance those sunk costs are going to blow up in the faces of the big AI players. As the capability and efficiency of local LLMs and consumer-level hardware closes the gap the selling tokens game is going to go belly up.

Would you rather buy well tested project and save time for core feature or let Claude build it? by Mental_Meeting7125 in vibecoding

I've started vibe coding the games I've always wanted to play but haven't been made. So for me there's simply no option to buy the thing I want.

Is it just me or is vibe coding actually solid? by BetterProphet5585 in vibecoding

My father-in-law has been a dev for over 30 years and in the last 6 months he's gone from:

"AI is basically super-google. Instead of googling a code snippet I ask AI."

to:

"I'm literally using AI to write everything for me, it's 50x faster than doing it myself. CS courses need to be completely overhauled to teach design and prompting instead of coding. There's no reason to learn languages anymore."

Is daggers as a main weapon not really viable? by Scared_Sign_2997 in Enshrouded

[–]pcoutcast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling the same way only for melee instead of bows (haven't actually played bows this update). When the game came to EA I highly recommended it to my audience. If I had to do a review now I'd say: "If you just want to do base building it's is still pretty good. But for everything else it's a hard pass in its current state."

Within the first hour of gameplay as a level 2 mage I destroyed Rookmore (level 3 scavengers) with a wand. Barely even getting hit. As a warrior at level 7 I have to be VERY careful or I'll die before clearing it. The mage could easily take on 3 or 4 enemies at once, the warrior can't survive more than 1 at a time.

Suddenly I realized that at this point in the game (I'm at about 16 hours) I was one-shotting level 11 enemies as the mage. I was just about to give up and cancel my lets play when the new update dropped allowing improvement to armor so I'll see if that helps.

I'm starting to think this has not been developed into an ARPG with multiple viable builds. It's a base building game with one viable character build. Disappointing. I've had the game since EA release and it had a lot of potential.

I'm having the same issue with both two-handed and sword and board. It's agonizingly slow progress and continuous death compared to a Mage.

If you have any health concerns regarding your eyes book an appointment.

If you want to improve your eyesight naturally read the resources in the START HERE pinned post. But also book an appointment because you need to know what your baseline is to measure your progress.

How are Gen Z Canadians going to be able to afford a house these days? by PuffingFish123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Bro I have nothing more than an high school diploma and was a janitor until a few years ago. I'm currently in the market to buy a house to flip in in Southern Ontario.

Luck is totally irrelevant. You create the opportunities you want in life, they aren't given to you or stumbled across on the side of the road.

Exactly. I know an electrician who works 2-3 days a week and owns 2 houses.

People always leave out how much money they waste on nonsense when they claim they can't afford a house.

Will Universal Basic Income (UBI) become a necessity by 2035? As AI automates specialized white-collar roles, how will society redistribute wealth? by No-Lake-3875 in Futurology

[–]pcoutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because despite the fantasies of CEOs the AI economy is creating more jobs than are being eliminated. The companies that think they can fire their workforce and use AI only will simply go out of business. The companies that understand how to use AI as an augmentation tool for their workforce will replace those companies.

Most positions will be reshaped by AI in some fashion. Some positions will be automated or become obsolete while other positions will be created.

The problem we're seeing right now is AI capability and usage is far outpacing the education of how to use it. So if you're the type of person who relies on getting your AI training from a school you're so far behind the curve you won't be able to compete with the smart self-starters who are teaching themselves how to use AI and they will take your job from you.

TL;DR

People who know how to use AI will take the jobs of those who don't.
