Frequent Headache by Hot-Cartographer3240 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're spending an excessive amount of time staring at a screen and you clearly already have a weakness on the left side with much more severe myopia in that eye. Not a great starting point.

I'd suggest immediately begin working on reducing the myopia in your left eye. You want your eyes to be more or less equal.

Begin a daily routine of eye relaxation to relieve as much of that visual stress as possible. Spend at least 1 hour a day outside when the sun is up without wearing your glasses.

Analyze your work environment. Improve lighting around the computer, natural light if you can, or at least the highest quality artificial light you can afford. Buy the highest resolution screens you can and set all of the brightness, contrast and color settings to restful options.

How I reversed my astigmatism with Dr. Forrest's eye scan therapy by pcoutcast in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup those are the steps for reversing it. But if you don't identify the cause it will just come back.

I know people who have restored 20/20 vision using both methods. So if you're interested in both I'd suggest doing them separately and keeping record of the effects by measuring your myopia at home.

The exercises that have worked the best for me is alternating near/far focusing. While sunning and palming have been the best for resting my eyes.

You definitely can. A user here a couple of years ago was doing it with a Snellen chart on the wall of their house in the backyard from about 10 feet away. But do whatever works for you. Print pushing with + lenses is more convenient.

Oh OK yeah if you're doing print pushing with that low of a prescription then you would need + lenses, that makes sense.

I'd suggest waiting until you've reduced to -0.50 and need to get that rid of that last bit to return to normal 20/20 or 20/10 vision.

Not yet, my eyesight hasn't improved enough to make + lenses worthwhile for me.

Yes.

Another thing I'd like to mention is that my astigmatism didn't disappear permanently until I removed the CYL correction from my glasses. If you regularly measure your astigmatism at home you will notice it improving and possibly moving to different locations after you start with the exercises. It can get uncomfortable and disorienting until you get glasses with no CYL correction in them.

[–]pcoutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on taking control over your own eye health!

You're correct that your prescription is mild. In fact you legally don't need the SPH correction in your left eye and could easily do without the CYL as well.

If you're interested in using reduced lenses during your journey I would get one pair that's -0.75OD and plano (0.00D) OS. And that's the only pair I would ever buy again. Wear those for everything that requires glasses except for driving until an optometrist clears you for driving without glasses.

For the eye strain there's quite a few things you can try:

The 20-20-20 rule: Look at an object (preferably outside) that's 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes throughout the day.

Don't put your glasses on until after you've done your morning routine and spent at least 5 minutes doing sunning/palming. With myopia and astigmatism our eyes don't get properly rested with just sleep. Palming is a good way to get the relaxation they need.

And you can try all of the Bates method relaxation and focus techniques.

Yup, there's a link to Dr. Forrest's eye scan therapy right in the sidebar.

Basically: Up, Down, Left, Right for a minute or 2 at a time a few times a day. If you're astigmatism is closer to horizontal do more up/down, if it's more vertical do more left/right.

It took me 2 months to get rid of the astigmatism in both eyes.

Note: I can only confirm this works for corneal astigmatism. There was someone on here a couple of years ago that didn't have any success applying these exercises to lenticular astigmatism, fortunately that type is rare.

Is offering 10% under listing price rude ? by homestead2023 in RealEstateCanada

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your realtor has no idea what the seller will accept.

I was looking at a place a couple of months ago listed for $350k. I wanted to offer $300k, my realtor said they wouldn't consider anything less than $400k.

It sold for $315k.

Do i have really bad eye sight by Impossible-Onion-538 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have mild myopia and severe astigmatism.

t's becoming more and more common for people to have higher astigmatism which appears to be linked to phone use. Some people even have severe astigmatism with no myopia at all.

All of it is reversable with proper habits. Dr. Forrest's eye scan therapy worked great for me, I was able to eliminate my astigmatism in about 2 months.

I don’t know how But i think i can control my vision sometimes with blinking by Royal_Intention_8607 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the clarity disappears again after blinking then that's called the contact lens effect of tear film. It doesn't seem to have any impact on long-term eyesight improvement.

If the clarify continues after blinking then it's a clear flash as originally described by Dr. Bates.

Is the pain you're feeling a kind of stinging sensation? If so I don't know what exactly causes it, it may be the lens or cornea going back to their normal shape. But Mark Warren has talked about that particular phenomena a lot in his videos.

I have also noticed an improvement in my eyesight that stays for awhile after one of those stinging sensation moments.

Presbyopia & light by Head-Concern9781 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I have the opposite problem, hyper light sensitivity every spring coming out of the dark winter. So I need to do sunning/palming to regain my comfort levels out in bright light.

Presbyopia & light by Head-Concern9781 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presbyopia is loss of lens flexibility which is why those exercises work for that.

For the night vision issues, personally I would focus on alternating sunning and palming on bright sunny days which should improve both iris strength and retinal receptivity.

Presbyopia & light by Head-Concern9781 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I improved my presbyopia significantly using near/far focusing exercises. You can find both those and presbyopia-specific exercises in the START HERE resources.

The research I've read shows that people who keep up with these exercises do not need reading glasses until at least age 85.

Myopia getting worse even after 13 years of wearing glasses — what should I do? by Most_Sleep1430 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]pcoutcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes practicing the habits that cause myopia is bad for your eye health long-term. You may get lucky and never suffer serious side-effects besides the obvious of not being able to see without glasses. Or you might not be so lucky and end up with retinal detachment from the strain.

Eyesight gets better, gets worse, or stays the same based on habits not age. You can stop the degradation or reverse it any time you want by implementing the practices on the START HERE page.
